'Global warming who?': Kylie Jenner faces online backlash for flexing private jets, taking 17-minute flights
Kylie Jenner's recent flex has gone wrong.
On July 16, Jenner shared a black and white photo of her and boyfriend Travis Scott with their private jets. "You wanna take mine or yours?" she wrote on the caption.
While there were some in her comments section calling their situation "goals," others have brought up the environmental implications of their personal flights.
A post from Twitter bot Celebrity Jets, which tracks the flights of the rich and famous, blew up after Jenner's photo. The tweets detailed recent private rides by the socialite which showed her take 12-minute and 17-minute flights within California on July 13 and 16.

Jenner received criticisms on both Instagram and Twitter for the short private flights, with some users calling out the gas emissions for the rides.

80% of people have never taken a plane and Kylie Jenner is out here taking regular 10 minute flights, 5 flights in the last week under 30 minutes, one was 3 minutes long. Her carbon footprint for one ten minute flight, is more than some people make in a year.

The comments on Kylie Jenner’s tacky Instagram are sending me. pic.twitter.com/fYd6bQpcqu

THIS SHOULD’VE STAYED IN YOUR DRAFTS: Kylie Jenner posts her jet and Travis Scott’s jet on Instagram just days after news breaks that she uses her jet to go on 3-minute trips across Los Angeles. Her followers are pissed, accusing her of needlessly increasing carbon emissions. pic.twitter.com/1LMIVvBeHi

Can people not comment "goals" under Kylie Jenner's very tone deaf picture about taking out a private jet for a short trip?! Like what is goals about that? Polluting the earth and not giving a damn about our planet?! I swear when they say Eat the Rich, they mean the Kardashians.

Others have pointed out that their efforts to save the environment, such as recycling and using paper straws, are trumped by Jenner's carbon emissions.
kylie jenner out here picking which colour private jet she wanna take today meanwhile I gotta chug my iced coffee before my straw becomes paper mache???? explain

Oh but I must cycle to work , use paper straws, limit beef consumption in order to reduce my carbon footprint? https://t.co/suuIHUOK1v

Europe is on fire, meanwhile Kylie Jenner is taking 15 minute trips in her private jet. I could recycle everything, buy all my clothes second hand, compost and grow my own food for the rest of my life and it wouldn’t even begin to offset the footprint from one of her flights.

According to a study by Transport and Environment, the super rich, or 1% of the population, can cause up to 50% of global aviation emissions. A private jet can emit over two tons of carbon dioxide in just one hour and causes five to 14 times more pollution than commercial flights.
