Odette Khan's family appeals for help amid actress' hospitalization
Bar Boys star Odette Khan has been hospitalized and is bedridden.
Her family, in a statement posted by the Bar Boys Facebook page, appealed for help with the actress' hospital bill at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute, where she's been confined since Feb. 21.
They shared that she has pneumonia, emphysema, edema, and had fluid drained from her right lung last week.
"Treatment is still ongoing, and hospital bill as of [Feb. 27] is now at P211,000+ not including professional and readers fee, caregiving expenses, and medicines are not included yet," Khan's daughter, Claudette Avelino-Tandoc, wrote.
Avelino-Tandoc admitted that they are "running out of funds."
"She has served the film and television community with all her heart for over five decades. If she has touched you in any way during these years and you are capable and willing to donate, we would really appreciate it," she said.
Her Bar Boys co-star Rocco Nacino shared the post on his Instagram stories.
"Let's spread this!!! Mahal ka namin mama mama!" added Sassa Gurl, who starred in the film's sequel.
"Isang linggo nang may sakit si Miss Odette Khan. If you can help, [please] do so. Tulungan natin ang isa sa haligi ng pelikula at telebisyon sa Pilipinas. Ang bigat sa damdaming makita ang pinagdadaanan niya," Bar Boys director Kip Oebanda wrote.
Khan is known for starring as retired court justice Bing Hernandez, one of the strict professors in the 2017 film Bar Boys, for which she won best supporting actress at the 2018 FAMAS Awards, Gawad Urian Awards, and PMPC Star Awards for Movies.
She reprised the role in the 2025 sequel, Bar Boys: After School.
Khan has also appeared in Kontrabida Academy, Batang Quiapo, Tadhana, The Hows of Us, T-Bird at Ako, and more.
