ABS-CBN's Dreamscape Entertainment and Viu Philippines announced on Tuesday, Nov. 21 that the South Korean TV series is getting a Philippine remake, with Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino as its lead stars.
Kim is set to portray the role of Secretary Kim, which was originally played by Park Min-young.
Paulo, meanwhile, will play the narcissistic vice chairman Lee Young-joon (originally portrayed by Park Seo-joon).
Produced by Dreamscape Entertainment, the Filipino adaptation is set to premiere in 2024. Further details about the cast and exact premiere date are yet to be announced.
The PH adaptation would mark Kim and Paulo’s reunion project shortly after the success of their Prime Video series Linlang.
Originally a webtoon, What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim? was adapted into a K-drama in 2018. It follows the story of a good-looking, wealthy yet arrogant vice-chairman of a major corporation, who finds himself entangled in a complicated romance with his longtime, highly competent secretary after she finally decides to resign from her job.
The hit romantic-comedy series stars Park Seo-joon, Park Min-young, Hwan Chan-sung, and Kang Ki-young, among others. It also received nods and bagged awards in various local awards shows, including the 11th Korea Drama Awards and the 6th APAN Star Awards.
