Here's how Pinoy stars are turning their Christmas trees into works of wonder this year

By JUSTINE PUNZALAN Published Dec 13, 2022 8:35 pm

If there are people who never fail to take the Christmas season to the next level, that would be our favorite stars.

While their houses have always been admirable throughout the year, they turn into holiday spectaculars when Yuletide comes because of their towering festive Christmas trees.

Apart from collaborating with famous designers in sprucing up their evergreens, some of them regard the tradition of decorating it as one with sentimental value.

If you're still looking for design inspo or want eye candy to boost the holiday spirit, here's how Pinoy celebrities are proving to have the best-dressed trees for the most wonderful time of the year.

Bea Alonzo kickstarted December with a glimpse of her grandiose Christmas tree decor for 2022. Glammed up by event stylist Randy Lazaro in collaboration with Ycoy Sitchon, the actress' eight-year-old fir radiated the warmth of the holidays that many have grown up with.

It is adorned with Christmas balls in traditional red and gold, along with other ornaments and toys, including those inspired by Christmas drummer boys. While the theme of Bea's setup last year was inspired by romance, this one is clearly about reliving the traditional, homey feel of the season.

Vicki Belo

Christmas is the sweetest holiday of the year, and Vicki Belo perfectly summed it up with her whimsical Queen Bee Belo tree designed by Stephen Brown of Glitterville.

In an Instagram post last Nov. 30, the celebrity dermatologist showed how her new ensemble is made to delight the kid in you, as it makes use of the India-based studio's "beautiful gigantic things."

This includes Glitterville's ornaments called "Queen Beasy," which is a handmade adorable cartoonish queen bee with a crown, and her pretty little home called "Queen Beasy's Hive." Then there are also huge pastel decors that resemble a slice of cake and frosted Sisal trees.

Completing Belo's candy wonderland-inspired decor are the "Rainbow Glided Nesting Boxes" and "Gumball Drop display" at the bottom of the tree.

This isn't the first time the doctor wowed netizens with her quirky setup. Last year, Belo also tapped Glitterville to create her grand fairy-themed evergreen tree.

"Paskong Pinoy" is the theme of Gabbi Garcia's Christmas tree, which was designed by event stylist Dave Sandoval. The actress' rustic tree decor gives off a bright, classy, and homey vibe with the use of locally made ornaments, such as rattan balls, angels made out of coconut husks, and parols from Pampanga.

These were accentuated by classic golden Christmas balls and the LED lights wrapped around the tree. Traditional Filipino toys, such as sungka and a wooden train, were also used to localize the symbolic tree.

"Our vision is to highlight the craftsmanship of Filipino artisans to promote their livelihood and our shared culture," Salvador wrote in an Instagram post last Dec. 4. "Paskong Pinoy is classic, timeless, and beautiful."

For "Megastar" Sharon Cuneta, the essence of decorating her Christmas tree is getting her family to celebrate tradition together.

In an Instagram post on Dec. 10, the seasoned actress said that they have two Christmas trees in their home, with the other one used to "decorate with old, sentimental, and new ornaments."

"Then Miguel our youngest is always tasked to put our very old star on top of the tree!" Cuneta continued. "We have our own little traditions that make the season more meaningful."

Marielle Rodriguez

Marielle Rodriguez-Padilla has built a winter wonderland in her home with not just one, but four Christmas trees in her dining area.

"I am pretty big on Christmas," the actress said on her Dec. 8 vlog. "Both sides of my family—my mom's side, my dad's side—they make a pretty big deal of Christmas so I want my kids to have that as well."

Her theme is the same as last year's, which is all-white, but the TV host said she added one frosted tree and more ornaments to the setup as it has been her tradition to do so every year.

The opulent display is filled with ornaments such as white and silver roses, poinsettias, pompom blooms, and cotton plants; as well as frosted, clear, and glittery Christmas balls in various sizes.

"I just added a few more balls and snowflakes," Marielle remarked. All of which, she said, was only bought in local department stores. "Hindi kailangan mahal lagi 'yung nilalagay ninyo. Ang important, ginagawa niyo together, naglalagay kayo as a family," she added.

Since the 38-year-old mom wants her daughters Isabella and Gabriela to enjoy Christmas traditions to the fullest, she also bought a small Christmas tree for them to decorate in their room.

In Marielle's vlog, Isabella is seen listing down the ornaments she would want to put on their tree, with "Candyland" as their theme.

She and her sister later turned their own Christmas bush into eye candy with trinkets that look too cute to eat! The list comprises adorable blue and pink donuts, sprinkled and glossy Christmas balls in pastel colors, and glittery pink poinsettias.

Another actress who brought winter into her home is Kapuso star Max Collins. For this year, the actress opted for a white spruce Christmas tree, which combines sophistication and nostalgia for a look that perfectly encapsulates the saying, "Less is more."

Max opted to keep her design clean and simple using only a few adornments, which include a stuffed owl, clear glass trinkets, dark-colored rings, and a white taffeta ribbon spiraling the tree. Instead of placing a star atop her Christmas bush, Max also went for an all-white owl. Unique and gorgeous, isn't it?

Elisse Joson and McCoy de Leon

While one's Christmas tree decors are themselves a reflection of how one perceives the season, Elisse Joson and McCoy de Leon have found a way to add more personal touch to it with their setup this year.

First off, the couple decked their towering green tree with glittery gold and white Christmas balls accentuated by yellow LED lights. Now, what takes the cake is how Elisse and McCoy filled it with Polaroid photos of their sweet, memorable moments together as a family.

Adding more sparkle to their setup is the lamp at the bottom of the tree and, of course, their adorable daughter Felize!

Jessy Mendiola and Luis Manzano

Jessy Mendiola and Luis Manzano are adding sparkle to their homely abode, with their silver-and-green-themed Christmas tree.

The ensemble exudes elegance, with its white poinsettias and Christmas balls of different sizes in metallic silver, emerald green, and old gold. Completing the design are the white LED lights and silver taffeta ribbons wrapped around the tree.
