From his effective portrayal of a North Korean military officer to a young and rich CEO, South Korean actor Hyun Bin now has a new role to take on—a real-life father. And this first-time "appa" is eager to do well in that more than anything.
Hyun Bin revealed this during the press conference of his upcoming film The Point Men in South Korea today, Dec. 20. During the event, the 40-year-old star talked about his role in the movie and gave a short glimpse at what it is like being a new dad.
Hyun Bin and his wife, Crash Landing on You co-star Son Ye Jin, welcomed their baby boy in November this year. Ye Jin's talent agency MSTeam Entertainment announced the news on Nov. 27. "It is true that Son Ye-jin gave birth. Both the mother and child are healthy," the agency said in a release.
Almost a month after the birth of their first child, Hyun Bin finally opened up about being a father at today's event. He said, "The shooting [of the film] was done before I have a child, so there is not much difference. I don't know, now my shoulders become heavier as I am the head of the family."
"In the future, I have to work harder and become a wonderful appa (father)," he continued. "That's all I can think of right now."

Apart from his sentiments as a new father, Hyun Bin has been trending for his new rugged look in line with his role in The Point Men. Directed by Yim Soon-rye, The Point Men is an action crime thriller based on the South Korean hostage crisis in 2007 in Afghanistan.
In the film set to premiere on Jan. 18 next year, Hyun Bin will play Park Dae Sik, a NIS agent who is an expert in the Middle East and Central Asia.
He said during the press conference that working on the project "was a great experience" as he "learned a lot" from working with his co-star Hwang Ju Min. "He has broadened my perspective," he added.
