Zayn Malik pays tribute to Liam Payne in his hometown
Zayn Malik honored his late former band member and friend Liam Payne during his Stairway to the Sky tour in Wolverhampton, England, his late former bandmate's hometown.
In a fan video posted on TikTok, the 31-year-old Pillowtalk singer took a moment to remember his late friend during his concert and dedicated his performance of iT’s YoU.
“So, I’ve been doing something at the end of the show every night, and it’s being dedicated to my brother Liam Payne. Rest in peace. I hope you’re seeing this in your hometown tonight, Wolverhampton, this is for you Liam,” Malik said.
Before this, The Hollywood Reporter said that the Pillow Talk singer also paid tribute to Payne during his Leeds show earlier this week. He said, "Liam Payne, 1993-2024. Love you bro," on the stage with a heart.
On Nov. 20, Malik together with other One Direction members Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson gathered for Payne's funeral at St. Mary's Church in Amersham, Buckinghamshire.
In October, the singer also postponed the US leg of his concert, before heading to England, following Payne's death in Buenos Aires.
Payne and Malik were part of the hit boyband One Direction, which was formed in 2010 and became known for hits such as What Makes You Beautiful, Little Things, and Best Song Ever, among others.
Malik left the band in March 2015 and the group continued to perform as four members. Later in the year, they announced that they would go on hiatus in 2016.
