SB19 and The Juans are ready to show teamwork for upcoming song collab
The Juans and P-pop boy group SB19 are proving that “teamwork makes the dream work” as the bands collaborate once again on a new song.
In an interview with both groups on Monday, July 10 at the Tower of Dooms studio, the two bands revealed that they are gearing up to develop a song that every Filipino can relate to.
“It's a song that will speak to real stories and real situations of our listeners,” said Carl Guevarra, the lead vocalist of The Juans.
Both Filipino boy bands expressed their excitement and sentiments for the upcoming collaboration.
Josh, lead rapper, dancer, and sub-vocalist of SB19 said that they really look forward to working again with The Juans. The two bands last collaborated in 2021 to produce the song Push Ang Pusuan with Matthaios.
Josh shared that both teams had time to bond in the past, but due to work constraints had to shelve earlier plans. The upcoming project is an opportunity for the two groups to reconnect.
What if mag-teamwork ulit kami ng @SB19Official para sa isang kanta? Hingi namang inspiration d'yan, JuAtinistas! 🤔

Meanwhile, Carl said, “I believe that there’s always something special that happens whenever we get a chance to work with SB19… Feeling ko natural po sa amin na kapag nagsasama kami, lumalabas talaga yung puso namin na to be united.”
He also expressed how both teams' “heartbeat” aims to uplift the Filipinos. This is the time and moment where both see eye-to-eye — that they started from zero and so they continuously work hard to reach their dreams.
“It's so natural to just give back that message kasi its not just a slogan, it's not just a statement, but it's the lifestyle that we both live,” he said.
Moreover, Carl emphasized how SB19 and The Juans’ friendship is not, in any way, forced or strained.
“Kapag kumakain lang kami, alam mo yung natural lang talaga lumalabas yung mga kwento na 'Uy kamusta kayo? Kasi kami ganito, ganyan,'” he said. “It was just really an organic friendship and I feel that's what makes it really special, so we feel honored.”
Blending distinct musical styles
In terms of music genres, SB19 is known for their Pinoy pop hits while The Juans musical style leans more toward pop-rock, indie, and neo-soul. The collaboration aims to blend their distinct musical styles.
“Feeling ko po yung totoong pagiging artistic ay lumalabas po sa mga ganung pagkakataon, na hindi palaging umaayon sayo yung mga “ingredients” kumbaga. And I feel like that’s what makes it so unique because magkakaiba kami ng genre, but the willingness to meet halfway and to make something work yun po yung nagpapa special sakanya” Carl said during the Tiktok Live.
“Doon po nakikita yung kung gaano po kagaling si Pablo, kung gaano kagaling mag adjust yung SB19, at kung gaano din po kami ka-passionate na mas gumanda pa yung tunog po for the both of us…. yun po talaga yung value ng teamwork,” he added. “It makes everything work basta gusto niyo parehas.”
When it comes to their creative differences, both groups highlighted how maturity guides their music-writing process. They train themselves to value what matters.
“We treat it as a good problem, yung marami kaming creative ideas na naiisip kasi mahirap naman yung wala ka talaga kaming maisip, so it's a good problem for us,” said RJ Cruz, the vocalist and acoustic guitarist of The Juans.
Meanwhile, Pablo, the leader, main rapper, and lead vocalist of SB19, said, “Being in a group talagang medyo mahirap siya since iba-iba talaga ng creative thoughts… pero ayun nga, maturity.”
Pablo said that this is the time and opportunity where both can create a good piece since their thoughts are being challenged.
“‘Di naman masasabi na one member, alam na nya lahat eh or yung idea nya or idea ng isa, yun na yung pinaka maganda. So, doon kami humuhugot ng idea na kung ano makita namin na maganda or ano, pinagsasama-sama namin para makabuo kami ng mas magandang obra,” he added.
Indeed, with SB19 and The Juans teamwork, Filipinos will soon enjoy a new music piece that resonates with them.
The Juans, consisting of Carl Guevarra, Japs Mendoza, Chael Adriano, and RJ Cruz, is known for their songs Hindi Tayo Pwede, Hatid, and Balisong. In 2017, they were awarded with “Favorite Group Award” in the MYX Music Awards.
Meanwhile, SB19, composed of Pablo, Stell, Josh, Justin, and Ken, is known for their songs Gento, MAPA, and Go Up. In 2021, they were nominated in the Billboard Music Awards as the Top Social Artist. This year, the group started their “Pagtatag!” world tour which kicked off on June 24 and 25 at the Araneta Coliseum. They will be heading next to Illinois, Chicago on July 21.
In August 2022, The Juans released their song Salamin featuring SB19 Stell in their official music video.
