Celeste Cortesi writes touching message as her reign as Miss Universe Philippines ends: 'It was a meaningful journey'
Celeste Cortesi took to Instagram to write about her journey as Miss Universe Philippines and pay tribute to those who were with her throughout her pageant journey.
Sharing new photos on her social media, Celeste surprised her followers with a new look, sporting a blonde pixie cut wig. She wore two outfits: a black sheer feathered dress over her black two-piece by Helen Piece, and a black sheer-paneled dress by Chris Nick.
"Today, the sun will set on my reign as your Miss Universe Philippines, and it will rise on a new queen who will continue to show the world the beauty of The Philippines and its people," Celeste started, saying she will be "forever grateful" for having the chance to represent the country in the international pageant.
"My reign as a queen might have ended, but conquering greater heights is just about to begin," the Fil-Italian beauty queen continued.
She said that she is looking forward to what's to come, including "new opportunities to be more fearless, kind, and loving towards myself and those whom I will encounter."
Celeste hopes that her fans will continue to support her as she discovers herself "and what I can contribute to the world."
"It was a meaningful journey towards the end, and from the bottom of my heart, MARAMING SALAMAT sa inyong suporta at pagmamahal."
"Celeste Rabimbi Cortesi, your Miss Universe Philippines 2022," she signed.
In a previous post, Celeste also opened up about going through challenges during her reign.
"It was never a walk in the park, as some people would think. It’s not just about the fierce walk, killer poses, and sultry image. Underneath all the things that people see are hours upon hours of hard work," she said.
The reigning beauty queen said her journey was like an "emotional rollercoaster" having received "criticism, rejection, and self-doubt."
"I wouldn’t have it any other way, for it led me to self-discovery, growth, and empowerment. Sure it was difficult, but it helped me overcome my fears, confront my insecurities, and it pushed me to be the best version of my self," she added.
"Thanks to all the people who supported me and believed in me. All this time, I didn’t wear the crown alone, I wore it together with all the people who helped me to get to where I am today. And I couldn’t be more grateful," Celeste ended.
Celeste represented the Philippines at the Miss Universe 2022 pageant last January 15 held in New Orleans, USA, where she failed to make it to the finals. The 25-year-old also represented the country at the Miss Earth 2018 pageant, where she finished in the Top 8.
Celeste is set to hand over her crown to the next Miss Universe Philippines at the ongoing coronation night happening this May 13 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
