Matthew Perry's ex-fiancée Molly Hurwitz speaks out on the late actor's 'profound impact' on her
Matthew Perry's ex-fiancée Molly Hurwitz opened up about her relationship with the actor following his death at age 54.
The 32-year-old literary manager took to Instagram to pen a heartfelt letter to her former lover.
"He would love that the world is talking about how talented he was. And he really was very talented," Molly started.
"As the Friends reunion was approaching, we rewatched the show together. 'Fuck, I was so good!!!…See what I did there???' We rewound and studied scenes. Our respect and appreciation of humor is something that connected us. Being with him as he rediscovered his brilliance was magical," she added.
Molly continued that she saw the other side of Matthew, too, saying their relationship was "complicated" and he caused her "pain." Despite this, she is still grateful for the actor and his "profound impact" on her.
"While I loved him deeper than I could comprehend, he was complicated, and he caused pain like I’d never known. No one in my adult life has had a more profound impact on me than Matthew Langford Perry. I have tremendous gratitude for that, for everything I learned from our relationship," Molly said.
Molly also mentioned Al Anon, or Alcoholics Anonymous, which she says is "an invaluable resource for those who love someone struggling with this destructive disease."
She ended her note by saying she is relieved her ex-partner is now at peace.
Molly and Matthew's romance reportedly began in 2018. Two years later, the Friends actor popped the question to "the greatest woman on the face of the planet at this time.”
However, a year later, Matthew announced that they had called it quits.
“Sometimes things just don’t work out and this is one of them. I wish Molly the best,” Matthew said in June 2021.
On Oct. 28, Matthew was found unresponsive at his home in Los Angeles. The official cause of death has been "deferred" pending the result of a toxicology test, said the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
