Reality TV star Jordan Wright found dead in Thailand at 33
Reality TV personality Jordan Wright, who appeared on The Only Way is Essex and MTV's Ex on the Beach, was found dead in a drainage canal in Thailand. He was 33.
The Daily Mail reported that Wright's body was found by a Burmese worker near Bang Tao Beach in Phuket, Thailand, on Saturday, March 14. He was reported missing by hotel staff after they were unable to reach him.
“A search of the room revealed no signs of forced entry or other irregularities,” Police Lt. Col. Sutthirak Chuthong of the Choeng Thale Police Station told the media outlet. “Hotel records showed that he had checked in alone and was due to check out on March 13, but staff reported that he never checked out.”
According to Chuthong, Wright was seen on CCTV footage moving back and forth in front of his hotel restlessly before leaving.
"We are still waiting for the autopsy results from Vachira Phuket Hospital to determine whether drugs were present in his system,” he said, adding that the case remains under investigation.
“We cannot confirm the exact cause of death until the autopsy results are released. If relatives or friends have concerns about the cause of death, they can contact the police station,” Chuthong continued.
Authorities believe Wright had been dead for less than two days and are discounting physical assault. They also reported that his hotel key card was still in his possession, while his phone was found nearby.
A spokesperson for The Only Way is Essex mourned the British celebrity's death in a statement sent to Deadline.
"Everyone at TOWIE sends their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Jordan Wright at this very sad time," they said.
Wright's first TV appearance was in the 2017 MTV series Ex on the Beach. The following year, he joined the ITV show The Only Way Is Essex, though he left after the first season.
