Carmina Villaroel turns emotional as she greets son Mavy Legaspi on his birthday: 'Tatay and I are just happy that you’re back'
Carmina Villaroel could not help but shed tears as she gave her birthday message to her son Mavy Legaspi.
During the weekly episode of Sarap, ‘Di Ba? on GMA-7, a cooking talk show hosted by the Legaspi family, the twins Cassy and Mavy on Jan. 6 received birthday greetings from various Kapuso stars as they turned 23.
When it was their mom's turn to greet, Carmina couldn't help but turn emotional.
Pero ang wish ko lang naman talaga is to have inner peace and inner joy," she said.
"I'm just so happy that," Carmina continued while gesturing to Mavy, who started to cry. "I'm trying to be careful because baka lagyan ng ibig sabihin yung mga sasabihin ko."
The Abot-Kamay na Pangarap actress added: “Tatay and I are just happy that you’re back. You know that I’ve been quiet for the past how many years. But I don’t care, because I am your mother,” she added.
"Kung nakialam ako, hindi mangyayari ito. So it only means, hindi ako nakialam," Carmina said. "That's why I'm just thankful because... that you're back.
Carmina went on to say she "will do everything and anything" for the twins. "I will really defend you sa abot ng makakaya ko."
She reminded them that she and her husband Zoren Legaspi are always there for them and that the challenges they went through in the previous year only made them stronger.
"We always want what's best for you guys. So, yung pinagdaanan natin last year, I'm thankful na pinagdaanan natin yon because nakita ko yung strength ng bawa't isa. Yung isa gustong mag give up, pero we're drawing strength from each other," she added.
"So, yun lang, happy birthday, guys. I love you."
The message was seen as a subtle response to critics of the family, following Carmina's earlier cryptic posts amid rumors that Mavy and actress Kyline Alcantara have split.
Furthermore, before this sharing of speeches, Carmina had an exchange of opinions with the other hosts of the segment regarding the status of the twins’ relationships and love life.
At, in the future, kung sino man ‘yung makakarelasyon nila, ‘yun lang yung magiging boto ako,” she said. ‘Yung totoo ah, ‘yung genuine, very sincere.
