Ex-couple Barbie Hsu and Wang Xiaofei take family financial feud to social media

A year after Taiwanese star Barbie Hsu and Chinese business tycoon Wang Xiaofei filed for divorce, the couple has made rounds online yet again for another controversy: the expenses of the actress' household.

Last month, Xiaofei shared his sentiments on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo against Hsu, her now-husband Korean singer DJ Koo, and her sister Dee Hsu. In a report by The Hive Asia, the businessman exposed his ex-wife's alleged infidelity, drug use, and the enormous amount of electricity bills he refuses to pay.

His post included screenshots of the actual expenses he paid for their children and their home in Taiwan from the previous year.

"But as a man, after the two of them got married, why do I have to pay the electric bills for this family? I pay the driver and the maid, and I do not owe the children's tuition and living costs. We also have joint custody, so they don't have the right to stop me from seeing the children," he wrote.

On the other hand, Hsu broke her silence on Dec. 3 through an Instagram post with a photo of a financial statement and a signed note from Xiaofei, stating that he borrowed NT$26 million (~P47.8 million) from her. The Meteor Garden star also noted that she by far received NT$5 million (P9.2 million) from her ex-husband.

Xiaofei, meanwhile, refuted Hsu's allegations in a series of now-deleted post which says, "I had originally still regarded you as my children’s mother. But with you lying through your teeth today, you are not fit to be the mother of my children."

He added that he previously faced challenges remitting money from China to Taiwan and used the money he borrowed from his ex-wife to get through it.

The Straits Times also reported that the businessman accused the actress of using his credit card on NT$1 million (P1.8 million) worth of luxury goods from Hermes, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton after their divorce.

On Nov. 21, Mirror Media reported that Hsu accused Wang of not providing spousal maintenance since March and failing to honor their divorce agreement. The amount has so far totaled more than NT$5 million (P9.2 million), as reported to the Taipei District Court for enforcement.

The former couple married in 2011 and divorced ten years later in November 2021. They have an eight-year-old daughter and a six-year-old son who lives with Hsu in Taipei. Hsu and Koo have been married since March 2022, three months after her divorce from Xiaofei.
