Iza Calzado got candid about some of the struggles she is having as a new mom.

Iza, who welcomed her first child with her husband Ben Wintle in January, shared her journey with her followers, sharing a photo of her and her daughter Deia Amihan taken a few days after giving birth. Iza noted that the photo was right after she "cried so hard from a few 'failures.'"

"I felt I had as a new mother mixed with the deep love I was feeling for my child, the kind I have never felt for anyone before," she said.

"It’s quite a punch, the first few days, weeks post birth. Hindi siya madali. I am still recovering from it all but every day gets better and better," she added.

Now on her ninth week post partum, the actress said that the time has been "the most challenging yet fulfilling journey" she had been on.

"I know it is only the beginning," she said.

Iza went on to detail that she is navigating her way to motherhood "with faith, compassion, gratitude and love."

"Grabe, what a ride! I am becoming, I am evolving into — wait.. I am a Mother! An imperfectly perfect Mother to my precious child, Deia. Biruin mo yun? A gift indeed. Thank You, Lord!"

She added that she will share more about her journey "when the time is right."

Meanwhile, fans and friends of the actress wrote encouraging messages on her posts.

Fellow mom Anne Curtis said: "YOU are amazing Iza. It’s going to be the most beautiful journey with Deia. Frustrations, challenges and everything that comes with the chapter of motherhood."

"You were born to be a mother," said Solenn Heussaff.

Jackie Forster adviced her to take it "one day at a time."

"Tackle each day with grace, don’t allow yourself to be pressured by outside opinion and be gentle with yourself. [M]otherhood is a lifelong journey, you got this mama," she wrote.

Former beauty queen Katarina Rodriguez said she sees Iza an inspiration. "You have not failed on any account Iza! Even if I'm a second time mom you've inspired me so much," she shared.

Iza welcomed her baby girl last January 26. Just a few days ago, the 40-year-old actress first shared an intimate photo and the name of her newborn.

“Born on January 26th, 2023, she's already stolen our hearts and brought so much joy into our lives. We're so grateful for the love and support from our family and friends, and can't wait for all the adventures that lie ahead. Big love from our family to yours! #WintleHasArrived,” she said.
