'Drag Race Philippines' season 3 queen Yudipota talks fashion, memorable moments on the show
In a Drag Race Philippines first, a queen has walked out of the competition.
The fourth episode of the drag reality show's season 3 saw Bacolod queen Yudipota walking out from the lip sync battle, eliminating herself in the process.
The queens had to host their own talk shows with comedienne Melai Cantiveros- Francisco as their guest. Yudi, who was tasked with a fashion segment together with J Quinn, landed in the bottom 2 with her partner and had to lip sync for her life to Wag Kang Pabebe by Vice Ganda.
After her run on Drag Race, Yudi told PhilSTAR L!fe in a Zoom interview attended by select members of the press that her biggest takeaway was to work with what you're given.
"Not everything goes your way, so you just have to deal with what you have and what you are given," she said.
"That's what I learned most from the show and what I got from [it]. Everything's not going to be in your control, but whatever you have is what you need[.]"
Fashion queen
During her stint, Yudi got to show her love for fashion. She created a chic look for the Sustaina-Ball that landed her in the top during the second episode and she wore a fabulous 1997 Dior by John Galliano suit for the talk show challenge in the fourth episode, something she was ecstatic about.
"I was just so happy [that] I showed my most expensive thing that I have in my closet," she told L!fe.
"The inspirations for my looks would mostly be the things that I like, the things I was interested in when I was younger," Yudi shared.
As for what influences her drag, she said that nature is a big inspiration, especially for her villainous looks.
"I always love the villains. They just look so passionate, so dangerous... They just look so cool... [Villainous] characters always get to me like they look so weird and powerful," the drag queen said, adding that she is also heavily inspired by Lady Gaga.
Drag Race behind the scenes
Asked about the most memorable moments from Drag Race, Yudi shared that it's her relationship with her castmates.
"[The] girls have helped me—though it wasn't showed that much—but they have been so great backstage. Our relationship backstage has been really awesome, actually," she shared.
"So what's in the show is crazy, but outside of the show, it's crazier. That's the thing that I kind of like the most. And what I remember then the most is the relationship with the girls and getting ready with [them]."
