2024 Oscar nominees to receive gift bag worth almost $180,000 (P9 million)

The 96th Academy Awards ceremony has just concluded, and while some stars ended the night with only a nomination, they still went home a winner as some nominees will receive a gift bag that's worth $178,000 (P9.8 million).

In case you missed the prestigious award show, Cillian Murphy and Emma Stone triumphed in their respective categories as Best Actor and Best Actress while Robert Downey Jr. and Da’Vine Joy Randolph took home Oscars for Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress, respectively.

Best Director, meanwhile, went to Christopher Nolan, whose film Oppenheimer also snagged the award for Best Picture.

But according to CBS News, the 25 nominees won't be going home empty-handed as they will still get to enjoy an "Everybody Wins" swag bag that's jam-packed with nearly 60 expensive items.

This year's bag, which was prepared by LA-based marketing company Distinctive Assets, will be offered to the 25 actors and directors who are nominated for Academy Awards.

These include Bradley Cooper, Paul Giamatti, Jeffrey Wright, Lily Gladstone, Robert De Niro, Ryan Gosling, Mark Ruffalo, Emily Blunt, America Ferrera, Jodie Foster, among others.

What's inside the bag?

The most expensive item is a trip to Chalet Zermatt Peak, a popular ski rental nestled in Zermatt, Switzerland, that's worth $50,000 (P2.7 million). This includes daily meals, relaxing massages, and other perks.

But that's not the only travel opportunity in the gift bag as the nominees can also enjoy a three-night stay at private villa Saint-Barth Paradise, where rentals go up to $34,000 (P1.8 million), as well as a week-long wellness retreat at Golden Door for $9650 (P500,000).

Other items in the bag are home renovation opportunities, beauty products, health and wellness tools, food and beverage samples, and more.

Distinctive Assets founder Lash Fary said in a statement sent to the news outlet that the gift bag also serves to help businesses increase their profit.

"While our gifts may be famous for being fun, fabulous and unique, they also serve to elevate small businesses, minority-owned brands, female entrepreneurs and companies who give back. This is celebrity marketing with a mission," Fary said.

"Just as any A-list actor doesn't 'need' millions of dollars to walk onto a film set, these gifts are given based on the invaluable stardust these nominees can bestow upon a brand. Of course they can afford to buy these things; they are also in a uniquely favorable marketing position. This is a straightforward win-win transaction," he added.
