Ian Veneracion expresses how proud he is of daughter Deirdre: 'Who she loves is her business'
Ian Veneracion showed how much of a supportive dad he is to his lesbian daughter Deirdre.
The actor took to Instagram to clap back at people who judge others based on their SOGIESC or sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and sex characteristics.
His post came after Preview Philippines launched its Pride Month cover, which featured Deirdre alongside other local LGBTQ+ stars and creatives like Mimiyuuuh, Paolo Ballesteros, Sam Lee, Jason Dhakal, Rod Singh, Precious Paula Nicole, KaladKaren, Sheryn Regis, Sassa Gurl, and more.
"Seriously, let’s all just cut the bulls**t. People should be honored and respected for their compassion, courage, and integrity—not for the choices they make in the privacy of their bedrooms," Ian wrote.
"Proud of my daughter for embodying these values. Who she loves is her business," he added, signing off as "Proud Daddy."
Afterward, Deirdre, a budding musician, shared her father's post in a now-expired Instagram Story, writing a simple, "Thanks Dad."
In a past interview on Magandang Buhay, Ian recalled how his daughter came out to him when she was 16.
"Daddy, I have to tell you something," Deirdre then said. "I like girls."
Ian had a humorous response to this, saying, "Me also, I like girls."
"Just don't ever be apologetic about it. Not even to me," the actor then told his daughter. "You can be whoever you want to be and I have full support."
