Angeline Quinto revealed her struggle with gestational diabetes as she awaits the arrival of her second baby.

In a YouTube vlog, the singer talked about her diagnosis which her doctor said may have been caused by her lifestyle.

“Nakakalungkot kasi nga mayroon daw akong gestational diabetes,” she opened up. “Siguro raw sa lifestyle, lalo na sa pagkain ko.”

Angeline admitted she hasn’t been able to feel in control of her body lately due to her work commitments.

“Nakakalungkot lang kasi sabi niya (doctor) na puwedeng makaapekto kay baby so parang kailangan ko na talaga magbago ng lifestyle, guys,” she shared. “Parang ayokong kinakain ko lahat ng gusto ko pero hindi dapat. Kailan nating magbago.”

“Kaya naman natin ‘yan basta disiplina talaga. Para kay baby talaga,” she continued.

Angeline said she's managing her health condition by consuming less rice and sugar and living a healthier lifestyle in general.

According to the National Health Service, gestational diabetes refers to “high blood sugar that develops during pregnancy and usually disappears after giving birth.” Angeline is now in the third trimester of her pregnancy.

“[Gestational diabetes] happens when your body cannot produce enough insulin—a hormone that helps control blood sugar levels—to meet your extra needs in pregnancy,” the NHS said. Those who have it “usually have normal pregnancies with healthy babies,” though it can also cause problems like premature birth, pre-eclampsia, and low blood sugar (for the baby) in some cases.

The risks “can be reduced if the condition is detected early and well-managed,” per the NHS.

Angeline announced that she’s expecting baby no. 2 with her husband Nonrev Daquina in May.

They welcomed their first child Sylvio in April 2022 and confirmed their engagement in September that year. They tied the knot in April 2024.
