My Name and Nevertheless star Han Sohee has no plans to take responsibility for her mother’s debts, as announced by her agency 9ato Entertainment.

Korean media outlet Segye Ilbo reported that Sohee’s mother was sued for fraud and forgery after using an account under the actress' name. The report also revealed that her mother opened a bank account when Sohee was still a minor, where she borrowed money without her consent.

Sadly, this is not the first time that the actress’ mother was accused of fraudulent scams. In July 2020, Sohee said she discovered her mom’s debts after turning 20 since she was not “in contact with my mother.”

Sohee also clarified that she paid her mother’s debts before debuting as an actress. “I was so young at the time, and I thought that the only solution was to repay the debt in her stead. However, I think that ended up causing more victims in the end, so I apologize,” she added, as per a translation by Soompi

In an official statement, 9ato Entertainment said Sohee has “nothing to do” with her mother’s scams which “happened a few more times.” The agency also cited a civil trial dated April 2021 which stated that the actress “had nothing to do with these cases.”

“The Ulsan District Court’s final ruling on Apr. 8, 2021, stated, ‘Money was borrowed using an account under Han Sohee’s name, but it’s insufficient to acknowledge that she is jointly responsible for the debt due to this,’ so there is no evidence to acknowledge her involvement,” 9ato Entertainment said, as per a translation by Soompi

Sohee’s entertainment agency also revealed that the actress has “no plans to take responsibility” for her mother’s debts. “This is to block her actions of using her daughter’s name to borrow money and abusing the fact that her daughter is a famous celebrity.”

“It is true that [Sohee] can’t cut the moral ties between mother and daughter. She feels apologetic for people who were harmed against her will. Despite this, we hope that incidents like these will not be repeated through this strong response. Please be understanding,” 9ato Entertainment added.

To recall, Sohee revealed in an interview with Korean media outlet Sports World that she was raised by her grandmother. She added that her grandmother is her “driving force” to debut as an actress.
