Did we just witness a wedding or the Baeksang Arts Awards?

As a K-pop and K-drama fangirl, there’s nothing more exciting than seeing your favorite oppas and unnies together in an event. Not much is known about their real-life friends, relationships, and personal lives, so getting a glimpse of their interactions behind the scenes is a treat.

One major example: many A-list stars gathered at Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin’s wedding in Seoul. Much of the details are kept hush-hush which explains the amazement when the famous guests were revealed to the public.

From appearing in popular K-dramas to paving the way in their own ways, here are some of the biggest names who attended #TheBinJinWedding and why they’re such a big deal.

Gong Hyo-jin

Gong Hyo-jin is known as the queen of K-drama rom-coms and longtime fans can name any of her famous works without a second thought. The talented actress prefers to portray women who “stand on their own feet or who have various sides to their personalities” as seen in her characters. Some of her most popular roles include Dong Baek in When The Camellia Blooms, Ji Hae-soo in It’s Okay, That’s Love, and Pyo Na-ri in Jealousy Incarnate

Gong Yoo

Old or new K-drama fans would recognize the charismatic Gong Yoo, thanks to his signature smile and charm. The actor has been active in the industry for 21 years and some of his most popular works include Coffee Prince, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, The Silent Sea, Squid Game, and Train to Busan. Aside from his acting abilities, many Pinoy fans couldn’t get enough of his “higop” or kissing scenes.

Jang Dong-gun

One of the most buzzworthy celebrities expected to appear at the BinJin wedding is Jang Dong-gun, who’s close friends with Hyun Bin in real life. The actor is familiar to many longtime K-drama fans since he appeared in classic series like A Gentleman’s Dignity, All About Eve, and Arthdal Chronicles.

Yoona

While Im Yoo-na has been making a name as an actress, she rose to prominence after debuting as the center, visual, and lead dancer of “The Nation’s Girl Group” Girls’ Generation. The center position is known for being the most eye-catching member and the one who represents the group’s identity the best, attracting potential fans.

Yoo-na reportedly made the role popular, thanks to her stage presence, popularity, visuals, and clean dance lines. On the other hand, some of her best works include The K2, Love Rain, and Confidential Assignment.

Ha Ji-won

New fans might not recognize Ha Ji-won, but you might remember her iconic lead roles in classic K-dramas like Secret Garden (where Hyun Bin was her leading man), Empress Ki, Memories in Bali, and The King 2 Hearts. Ji-won is one of South Korea’s most critically acclaimed actresses and is often praised for her versatility to take on various roles with ease.

Jung Hae-in

It’s hard to move on from Jung Hae-in’s heartbreaking death in Snowdrop’s final episode, but you can always cure your broken hearts by binge-watching his works. This charming actor is a top Hallyu star in the making, having appeared in popular K-dramas like Something in the Rain (where Son Ye-jin was his leading lady), D.P., Prison Playbook, and While You Were Sleeping

Gummy

You can’t talk about iconic K-drama soundtracks without mentioning the “OST Queen” herself, Gummy. From the song "You Are My Everything"  used in Descendants of the Sun, "Remember Me" from Hotel Del Luna, and "Moonlight Drawn By Clouds" from Love in the Moonlight, it’s impossible not to remember her popular hits. The balladeer revealed that two of the ingredients of a perfect ballad are “emotional expression” and how the “singer puts oneself into the song.”

Jeon Mi-do

While we’re not yet over her gut-wrenching death in Thirty-Nine, Jeon Mi-do’s portrayal of Jung Chan-young proved that she’s more than the perfectionist Chae Song-hwa in Hospital Playlist. Mi-do is definitely one to watch since she can pull off emotional scenes without being too exaggerated. What a gem!

Song Joong-ki

Yup, Song Joong-ki was part of the “Wedding of the Century” too. The dashing actor has been a master of stealing fans’ hearts with his enigmatic charm, handsome looks, and top-notch acting skills. If you’re not aware of Joong-ki’s impressive filmography, perhaps Vincenzo, Descendants of the Sun, Arthdal Chronicles, Sungkyunkwan Scandal, and Space Sweepers can do all the talking.
