Choi Seung-hyun, better known as T.O.P, has confirmed that he left BIGBANG last year.

On May 30, the South Korean rapper made the revelation by replying to one of the comments under his post with an initial caption “still making my albums.” He appears to be testing out new tunes for new music, as seen in his post.

“TOP DID YOU LEAVE BIGBANG?” an Instagram user wrote, to which he replied: “I’ve already withdrawn.”

“I’ve already told you guys that I’m leaving and I’m now facing a new chapter in my life since last year,” he added.

Another user asked if the rumors are true that he will make a comeback, to which the 35-year-old idol replied: “[as a] solo.”

T.O.P parted ways with YG Entertainment in February 2022 after 16 years following his contract expiration.

“We respected T.O.P’s desire to broaden the scope of his individual activities aside from just his promotions with BIGBANG, and he successfully came to an agreement about this with the other members,” YG Entertainment wrote.

“As long as the conditions are right, [T.O.P] will always participate in BIGBANG’s activities whenever he is able,” the statement continued.

He took part in the group’s comeback song in April 2022 with Still Life.

Later in December, it was revealed that he is one of the participating eight crew members for SpaceX’s dearMoon Project. Also joining the team are DJ and producer Steve Aoki and YouTuber Tim Dodd, among others.
