The late Richard Simmons, a professional fitness coach and instructor, was buried in his iconic workout outfit beneath his clothes, his brother Lenny Simmons revealed.

This was shared during the fitness guru's celebration of life at St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans on Saturday, Oct. 5.

According to Lenny, this "little secret," which he said not too many people know, is that Richard was wearing a tank top and shorts underneath.

"Just like Clark Kent underneath his beautiful things that he was wearing, his clothing, [Richard] is wearing a tank top and shorts," he said.

Lenny added, "Why, you ask? Because we think that God has another plan for him, and we want to make sure that he was going to be in his normal costume that we all know and love to help the saints and the angels get into shape."

"So I'm here to say to you that even though he's not here and I know he's in spirit here tonight, Richard Simmons will forever be sweating with the Holies," Lenny concluded.

Simmons died after celebrating his birthday on July 12, his longtime publicist Tom Estey announced.

Authorities said there was "no foul play" involved, but the Los Angeles Police Department later confirmed to the media outlet that the cause of his death "has since been deferred, meaning that an investigation and additional testing are needed."

TMZ reported that Simmons was at his Los Angeles home when he passed away. Police responded to a call from a housekeeper on July 13 at around 10 a.m.

"The world has truly lost an angel," Estey told PEOPLE.

Simmons opened his gym Slimmons, formerly The Anatomy Asylum, in Beverly Hills, California, in the '70s. There, he taught aerobics and motivational classes.

His gym's success led him to launch his television series, The Richard Simmons Show, which aired in the early '80s. During the decade, his Sweatin' to the Oldies line of fitness videos rose to fame. He also launched his own fitness products.

Simmons was last seen in public in 2014, according to PEOPLE.
