Korean actor Jung Woo-sung admits to being father of model Moon Ga-bi’s child
Korean actor Jung Woo-sung admitted that he is the father of the baby of model Moon Ga-bi.
The confirmation came after his agency, Artist Company, confirmed a Dispatch report claiming that Jung was the father of Moon's son.
"It’s true that actor Jung Woo Sung is the biological father of the child that Moon Gabi revealed on social media," the agency said in a statement obtained by the Korean entertainment website Soompi.
It added, "He is currently in the process of discussing the best possible avenues for childcare, and as a father, he will take full responsibility for the child until the end."
While he admitted his paternity, The Korea Herald said that Jung chose not to disclose details about his relationship with Moon.
'For my child and myself'
On Nov. 22, the 35-year-old model posted a black-and-white photo on her IG account showing her baby's hand touching her face.
In the post, Moon reflected on her initial feelings of shock and unpreparedness upon learning about the pregnancy.
"I was not prepared for such a sudden news, I spent most of my pregnancy quietly basking in the blessings of my family rather than enjoying the joy or celebration of my pregnancy. The choice to do so was only for the baby to be born," she wrote in the caption.
She continued, "I thought that in order to keep something precious on the one side of my mind, I have to work hard. I was such a poor-to-be mom with nothing prepared so I needed time to prepare everything but actually I think that was a coward's mom's choice."
Nonetheless, Moon assured that she would show her child the "bright and beautiful world" the best way she could.
"I am a mother who is still not [perfectly] ready with the child who came into the world but regardless of my imperfections, I have made a vow to be a healthy mother filled with love and happiness rather than perfection," she said.
"So as a mother, I am eager to give my child a healthy and happy life filled with complete love. I just wanted to show my child the bright and beautiful world I saw the other day and I thought I would have to be brave to do so."
According to reports, the two first met at a gathering in 2022 and "kept in touch" afterward. The following year, Moon discovered she was pregnant.
Reports also said that despite Jung's assurances to Moon that he would shoulder the responsibility of raising their kid, the two "never developed a serious romantic relationship or planned to marry."
Moon worked as a model after winning the Miss World Bikini competition in 2011. After this stint, she appeared on a variety show in 2016, in which she made headlines due to her “unconventional” looks, including her complexion and figure. Many believe she was mixed despite being 100% Korean. Since then, she has appeared on several Korean shows, including Law of the Jungle in 2018.
Meanwhile, Jung was the first Korean Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). He started his career as a fashion model and rose to fame in 1997 for his role in the film Beat.
He is also known for portraying roles in various Korean TV shows and films, including Asphalt Man (1995), A Moment to Remember (2004), Scarlet Innocence (2014), Tell Me That You Love Me (2023), and 12.12: The Day (2023), among others.
