American media personality Lauren Sánchez said she “blacked out a bit” when Amazon founder Jeff Bezos proposed to her with a 30-carat diamond ring.

In an interview with Vogue Magazine for its December 2023 issue, Sánchez recalled the time Bezos popped the question in May aboard his yacht worth $500 million (P28 billion).

“When he opened the box, I think I blacked out a bit,” she said.

The 53-year-old star said Bezos, 59, had hidden the ring under the pillow after dinner, and she discovered it just as she was getting to bed.

Speaking to PEOPLE Magazine, an expert jeweler estimated that the ring is worth $3 million to $5 million (P168.3 million to P280.6 million), or even higher.

According to the media outlet, an insider told them that the pair looked like they were "on cloud nine—so happy and madly in love" days after the proposal, which they spent exploring beautiful spots in Spain and France together. "They have been in a great mood and are obviously enjoying their trip. When they first arrived in Spain, Lauren especially seemed giddy with excitement as they toured the yacht," a source said at the time.

As for their upcoming wedding, Sánchez told Vogue that they’re still thinking about it.

'Is it going to be big? Is it going to be overseas?" she said. "We don’t know yet. We’ve only been engaged five months!"

When asked whether she'll be taking his name, Sánchez said: “Uh, yes, 100%. I am looking forward to being Mrs. Bezos.”

News broke that Sánchez and Bezos are a couple in 2019.

The two kept mum about their romance until Bezos' divorce from MacKenzie Scott, his wife of 25 years, was finalized. He and Scott have four children. According to entertainment portal Page Six, Scott received $38 billion as divorce settlement, which made her the world's third richest woman with 25% of their joint stock in Amazon. She donated half of it to charity.

Sánchez, meanwhile, was previously married to Patrick Whitesell, with whom she shares two kids: Ella and Evan. She also shares 22-year-old son Nikko with former NFL player Tony Gonzalez.
