Sandara Park shows off Filipino speaking skills at a restaurant in Dubai

It looks like Sandara Park has never forgotten her “Filipina roots.”

Dara showed off her fluency in Tagalog when she ordered from a restaurant in Dubai while speaking the language. The former 2NE1 member uploaded a video of herself on Instagram, presumably talking to a Filipino waitress as she flipped through the menu.

“Isang shrimp and chicken siomai, and then ano pa ‘yung masarap sa menu tulad ng chicken or beef,” Dara asked the waitress. The actress-musician then translated the waitress’ recommendations into Korean for her friends.

Dara admitted that she had forgotten that she was in Dubai since there were many Filipinos in the tourist destination.

“I’m in Dubai right now but since there are so many Pinoy here, I keep on speaking Tagalog so naturally, so comfortable. Nag-order ako ng food in tagalog and then I realized nasa Dubai pala ako hahaha ang cute,” Dara wrote in the caption.

Aside from her Instagram Reel, Dara is known for showing off her Filipino skills on many occasions. Earlier this month, she responded to a Filipino fan who asked about her lost shoe during 2NE1’s surprise reunion at Coachella.

In January 2017, Dara showed off her Tagalog skills in the now-defunct Korean travel show Battle Trip where she ordered tapsilog, tosilog, pancit canton, and bulalo from a restaurant in Palawan.

Dara started her entertainment career in March 2004 when she competed in the Filipino star search show Star Circle Quest. She finished first runner-up and has appeared in local shows, films, and had even released popular hits like In Or Out.

The actress-musician eventually returned to South Korea in 2007, where she debuted as a member of the K-pop girl group 2NE1 in 2009.
