Singer Cody Simpson reveals vocal cord hemorrhage
Cody Simpson revealed a vocal condition that led him to cancel his upcoming performances.
In an Instagram post, the Australian singer shared that doctors found a "serious hemorrhage" on one of his vocal cords over a month ago.
"It occurred due to my overzealousness in the studio singing through a sinus infection I didn’t know I had," he said, saying he initially kept the information private.
"Assumed it was just fatigue and kept showing up to the studio until one day I could no longer sing. I’ve now been on and off vocal rest for weeks," he shared.
Due to the medical condition, Simpson had to cancel his TV and radio performances for Baby Blue, his new album released in March. He added that even the completion of his album and the production of his next singles were also affected.
Simpson shared that he won't be using his voice for two weeks and that he has been collaborating as a lyricist with the help of his guitar for hearing and writing melodies.
"I’d like to bring you on the journey. I’ve been extremely up and down but am now reframing this as a realignment for the long-term good. In the meantime, should I start sharing some of what I’ve already finished?" he continued.
Formerly doing YouTube covers of Jason Mraz songs in 2009, Simpson debuted as a recording artist that same year and has since released four albums: Paradise, Surfers Paradise, Free, and Cody Simpson.
In 2018, he played the lead role of Dmitry in the Broadway musical Anastasia. The following year, he won the first season of Masked Singer Asia as Robot.
