KZ Tandingan says she's not yet ready to become a mom—here's why
KZ Tandingan opened up about not being ready to become a mother at this point in her life.
In an interview on SB19's Spotify podcast, Time First, the 33-year-old singer said that she's choosing to let things unfold in her career for now.
"Actually mas ako 'yung mas ayaw pa. Hindi naman din na hindi pero for now, parang ayaw pa," she shared. "Kasi doon tayo babalik sa I think I'm in my season of waiting sa career ko na parang ngayon, I'm happy with where I am pero I'm hoping na sana may mangyari pa na I have more songs, parang ganun."
Her husband, singer TJ Monterde noted that a couple, after all, can already be considered a family. "Pero kapag binigay [ang anak], thank You, Lord," he added.
Tandingan stressed that they're not closing their doors on parenthood, sharing that she's simply "trying to take [her] time."
"I also don't want to force myself to become a mother just because I was pressured," she pointed out.
For her, it's all about the right timing. "Ayoko dumating 'yung time na kapag nabuntis ako, baka kapag dumating 'yung time na may anak na ako, I don't wanna rob my child of the time that they deserve because gusto kong mag-work pa nang mag-work," she continued. "Ayoko din dumating 'yung time na baka kapag hindi na ako mag-work, baka at the back of my mind, may regret ako na 'di ko napaglaban 'yung career ko."
"Pero again, kahit sabihin natin, 'Ayaw pa namin,' 'Ayaw ko pa,' 'pag binigay naman ng Panginoon 'yan, I believe it's meant to happen. Baka ako lang hindi pa ako ready pero kapag binigay ng Panginoon 'yan, then the Lord must think I am ready," she said. "Kahit ano namang gawin niyong prevention, 'pag binigay ng Panginoon, 'Para sayo na 'to, para sayo na 'to.' Tatanggapin naman natin 'yan kasi gift 'yun."
Tandingan and Monterde tied the knot in August 2020 after dating for five years. They got married again on August 28, 2023 as they marked their third wedding anniversary.
