Squid Game and All of Us Are Dead star Lee Yoomi is finally set to be a K-drama female lead.

Yoo-mi was confirmed as the female lead of Strong Woman Kang Namsoon, the sequel to the 2017 Korean series Strong Woman Do Bongsoon.

Produce 101 alum Ong Seongwu, Record of Youth actor Byun Wooseok, Start-Up actress Kim Haesook, and Lovers in Paris star Kim Jungeun will reportedly join her in the series.

A Newsen report said the sequel will revolve around Kang Namsoon (Lee Yoomi), the distant cousin of Do Bongsoon (Park Boyoung), who’s known for her immense strength. She travels to Gangnam District, Seoul to look for her parents after being lost in Mongolia.

Jungeun will be taking on the role of Namsoon’s long-lost mother, Hwang Geumjoo, while Ong Seongwoo will portray her love interest Kang Heesik. On the other hand, Wooseok was cast as the villain Ryu Sioh.

Strong Woman Do Bongsoon revolves around a petite woman (Park Boyoung) who’s known for her superhuman strength. She soon finds herself in a love triangle between Ahn Minhyuk (Park Hyungsik) and In Gukdoo (Ji Soo) as the series progresses.

The sequel is scheduled to air in the first half of 2023.
