Miss Universe Philippines 2024 Chelsea Manalo calls her runway the 'tampisaw walk'
Catriona Gray has her "lava walk," and Michelle Dee has her "snake walk." Like queens before her, newly crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2024 Chelsea Manalo also has a name for her pasarela.
The Bulacan beauty unveiled the name of her iconic runway walk, the "tampisaw," when she visited her alma mater De La Salle Araneta University.
"It's going to be the 'tampisaw' walk officially. I had to announce it now because everyone was asking for it," Chelsea said, as per ABS-CBN News. "I wanted to call it the 'tampisaw' walk because it's somehow related to how I presented myself on the runway for the swimsuit round."
The swimsuit competition during the MUPH 2024 grand coronation night on May 22 saw Lola Amour performing their hit song Raining in Manila as the candidates pranced on the runway.
The winning queen added that she would also play in the rain when she was younger, thus the "tampisaw" moniker.
"In Bulacan I know we have a little bit of flood, but [I also want to] highlight how fun and playful Chelsea is. She's like any other kid na naglaro sa labas ng bahay nila. So you'd see how my legs were, as if she's playing."
Chelsea bested 52 other candidates during the grand coronation night and was crowned by MUPH 2023 Michelle Dee. She'll go on to represent the country at the 73rd Miss Universe pageant in Mexico.
