The Blind Side star Quinton Aaron discovered that while he was fighting for his life in a coma, his wife was legally unable to make his medical decisions because her previous marriage was never finalized.

In his interview with Good Morning America, the 41-year-old actor shared that when he woke from his four-day coma in January, he discovered that his wife, Margarita DeLeon, was still legally married to another man.

"The entire time we were together, she told me she had been divorced for 10 plus years,” he told the outlet. "She even told the person where we were getting married, 'Oh yes, I have all the documents. I can email over to you the divorce decree,'" he added.

He added that doctors had DeLeon from his hospital room because she was not authorized to make medical decisions for him. During his hospitalization, his lawyer uncovered records revealing DeLeon remained legally married to a previous partner from 1992.

For her part, DeLeon admitted she made a mistake, saying she thought her divorce from her husband had been finalized.

"When I told Quinton back in the hospital bed, and I want to be very honest about this, and I feel like this needs to be said and brought out there. I said to him, I said, 'Bibi, this information that your family pulled up on me, you know, I wasn't aware of it.' I said, 'This is what I found out. It is true,'" recounted DeLeon, who wed the actor in December 2024.

The report added that DeLeon's husband filed for divorce in February of this year, affirming that both parties thought the paperwork had been finalized years prior.

"If I had a chance to do it over. I would have done my due diligence. I would've definitely done a lot more research," Aaron said.

Aaron starred in the controversial film The Blind Side. He also played roles in films The Baby Pact, Left Behind, and Halfway. He is now focusing on his rehabilitation and managing diabetes.
