'Looksmaxxing' influencer Clavicular hospitalized for suspected overdose
Clavicular, who is known for promoting “looksmaxxing,” was rushed to the hospital after a suspected overdose during a livestream.
The influencer, whose real name is Braden Peters, was taken to the emergency room for a suspected overdose on Tuesday, April 14, per reports by CBS News and TMZ.
According to a 911 call obtained by TMZ, a Miami-Dade EMS dispatcher is heard reporting a “20-year-old male overdose” at around 5:46 p.m. local time.
Footage from the livestream uploaded on X showed Peters with two other influencers while filming around a mall in Miami, Florida. He was seen talking to random people in the area, appearing to be under the influence and slurring his speech.
"Holy s*** dude, I'm trying my best, but I'm f***ing destroyed right now," Peters tells the young woman. He is also repeatedly saying "holy f**k" while letting out a slight chuckle. He would also greet strangers in a slurry speech and grant them selfies with him.
The 20-year-old influencer also told his group that he needed to sit down before they settled in at a bar, where he would lean his head back while still letting out a chuckle. Fellow influencer, Androgenic, who is seated next to Peters in the video, asked him, "When did you last take blue?" before later asking him if he wants an "addy," likely referring to Adderall, a prescription stimulant used to treat ADHD.
The livestream then suddenly cut out. The Hollywood Reporter said that he's still in the hospital as of Tuesday night, US time.
On X, Andorgenic shared more details about the incident. "I hadn’t seen him in this state before and he went from speaking to being fairly unresponsive in mere seconds," he wrote. "Within a minute we all realised the situation, turned the stream off, picked him up and rushed him to the hospital."
"I haven’t received an update but that’s likely a good thing—and the acute respiratory depression window should already be over with. And you guys should realise that stimulants can attenuate respiratory depression in some cases, but I didn’t push for it once I realised he was unresponsive," he added.
Peters is known online for promoting “looksmaxxing,” a trend encouraging young men to improve their looks to attract women and gain status. Per CNN, he claimed he has gone to extreme measures himself, including breaking facial bones to change his appearance, using testosterone from age 14, and taking meth to stay thin.
He has previously found himself in multiple instances of legal trouble. In March, he was arrested on a battery charge for allegedly instigating a fight between two women and then posting a video of it on social media. He was also under investigation after firing multiple shots at an alligator in the water, which TMZ reported was already dead before Peter's shots.
Per the Los Angeles Times, he was likewise arrested in February in Scottsdale, Arizona, on charges of forgery and possession of prescription-only pills. Local authorities, however, dropped the charges, citing “no reasonable likelihood of conviction."
