'Forever starts now': Zooey Deschanel announces engagement to Jonathan Scott

Zooey Deschanel is engaged!

The New Girl star announced her engagement to TV personality Jonathan Scott on Tuesday, Aug. 15 by showing off her lovely ring on Instagram.

"Forever starts now!" she captioned her post.

Earlier this month, the two celebrated their 4th anniversary as a couple. "I love him more every day. I’m forever grateful!" Zooey wrote in an Instagram post.

Jonathan, meanwhile, marked the occasion with a reference to one of Zooey's movies 500 Days of Summer. "500 days of @zooeydeschanel. Actually, it's been a lot more, but who's counting anyway?" he wrote on IG. "4 years really [flew] by. Happy anniversary, baby!"

The soon-to-be-married pair met in a 2019 episode of Carpool Karaoke: The Series that featured siblings: Scott and his twin brother Drew as well as Zooey and her sister Emily. 

In an interview on Access Hollywood in April 2020, Jonathan recalled having an "instant chemistry" with Zooey when they crossed paths.
