Bettinna Carlos hospitalized due to severe headache: 'I thought this was going to be my last Mother’s Day'
Bettinna Carlos shared some of her realizations after getting hospitalized due to severe headache from stress.
"I thought this was going to be my last Mother’s Day," she began her Instagram post, adding a crying emoji. "I didn’t know so much stress could actually lead to this kind of headache called a tension headache. My head never hurt like this my whole life!"
The former TV host said she had to go to the emergency room twice in 12 hours and undergo magnetic resonance imaging to see what was wrong with her body.
"For this claustrophobic, I still feel like mamatay ako everytime I sit up. Scans were negative of anything more serious that muscle spasms. Relaxants and heating pads have been helpful [though]," she said.
"More painful [though] was thinking of my [two-year-old] sleeping on the chest of my [14-year-old] who is a heavy sleeper, worried she might wake up looking for me to hush her back to sleep while I'm in the hospital and her ate may be unable to quiet her, or unable to wake up in time!" she recalled.
Bettinna expressed her appreciation for her loved ones who "gladly took our girls even if it meant pushing their Mother's Day plans."
She added that her health scare made her rethink how she responds to stress.
"How can it not get to me so much that it brings me to this point? How should I change the way I view something as 'stress' that I may respond to it better? How do I relaaaaax? Such a painful way to learn but God knows how I'd best learn," she mused.
"Thank you, Lord. You are [still] so good, always good," Bettinna continued.
According to health information website Mayo Clinic, tension headache is often described as "feeling like a tight band around the head." Medline Plus, which is under the National Library of Medicine, said it "can be a response to stress, depression, head injury, or anxiety." This type of headache can be managed by having a healthy lifestyle and taking prescribed medications.
