TRENDING: Who is Chuando Tan, and why is he going viral online?

Published Mar 06, 2026 11:06 am Updated Mar 06, 2026 11:50 am

Chuando Tan has been trending on social media since he posted about his birthday earlier this week.

The Singaporean photographer marked his 60th birthday in an Instagram post on Tuesday, March 3.

"Today, on my 60th birthday, I am reminded that time is the only real wealth. Each sunrise arrives as an inheritance, not a guarantee. I am grateful to stand on this Earth still. The wiser path now is simple: Return daily to nature and sunlight, and align myself with what endures," he wrote in the caption. "I wish for PEACE ON EARTH."

In the comments section of his post, social media users expressed their disbelief about his age.

"Congratulations on your 60k followers... you did a typo somewhere," an Instagram user quipped.

“The most handsome grandpa," another one said.

"I'm gonna need to see a birth certificate," a Facebook user commented.

"[V]ampires used to hide and live in dungeons. Now they just post on social media," another Instagram said.

"If he is 60, I’m 120," another user also commented.

Internet users have been reposting his photos on different pages and praising his youthful looks. If his trending snaps made you curious about him and what he does, read on.

Model-turned-photographer

Tan began his career as a Singaporean model in the 1980s, before transitioning behind the camera in his late 20s to become a fashion and celebrity photographer.

After over a decade working in front of the camera, he co‑founded the studio Chuando & Frey, known for their cinematic lighting and moody shots. They have worked with major international magazines and brands, including Allure, ION Orchard, Louis Vuitton, and L'Officiel Singapore, as well as celebrities including Rita Ora, Janet Jackson, Shu Qi, and Rosamund Kwan.

Newfound fame

He first went viral in 2017 when he was 51 for his youthful looks and sculpted physique. In a previous interview, he shared that he “never felt insecure about [his] age” and that things “felt the same” even after going viral.

Three years later, he made his acting debut as a lead character in Disney+'s Precious Is the Night.

Secrets to his youthful looks

Tan’s youthful looks are a result of decades-long disciplined habits.

In his interviews, he shared that his workout routine includes regular compound exercises with weights, including squats, lunges, bench presses, and pull-ups, as these help strengthen the core and build muscle mass.

He also previously told the South China Morning Post that he makes sure to spend enough time in the sun for some Vitamin D.

Despite his seemingly strict routine, he also admits to having lazy days. “People think I’m always exercising, but that’s not true. I’m human—I get lazy, too,” he said in an interview with The Straits Times.

More than just exercising, Tan is mindful of what he eats, sharing that he avoids processed food and prefers dishes with natural ingredients in their simplest forms.

“I watch what I consume and put into my body, which I think is really important,” he shared. “That contributes to how well you age and your vitality.”

“All these dietary habits have helped me become what I am today,” he added.

Although he doesn’t look his age, Tan admits he has a hard time from time to time with getting older.

“You start to feel your body is losing energy and steam. You have to push yourself; your body can just let go without you even trying,” he mused. “To me, maintaining vitality is really important for healthy aging.”
