Katrina Dimaranan gets engaged in Cancún
Beauty queen Katrina Dimaranan is now an engaged woman!
The Filipino-American pageant titleholder announced that she said "yes" to her boyfriend Robby Rodriguez in Cancun, Mexico.
The photos from the proposal, which show her fiance on one knee as he popped the question, were accompanied by a caption that read: "I have always said love is friendship on fire and now I get to call my bestfriend, my FIANCÉ!"
Katrina continued: "We have always talked about how we envisioned our future together and our plans and goals that we couldn’t wait to conquer. But it feels so surreal that I can officially say that I can’t wait to spend the rest of forever with you! Our love for each other has only gotten stronger through the years and I’m so thankful to God for leading me to you."
The former Miss Universe Philippines-Tourism 2021 titleholder said that Robby, who rarely expresses his love with words, made her cry with his speech.
"So cheers to officially being off the market and getting to annoy each other for the rest of our lives," she exclaimed.
The likes of Vicki Belo and fellow Miss Universe Philippines 2021 candidates Steffi Aberasturi, Ayn Bernos, and Victoria Velasquez Vincent filled her post with congratulatory messages.
"So happy you've found 'the one,'" Vicki said.
In December, Katrina also marked another milestone after finishing her nursing program in the United States.
She shared the mighty feat on Instagram, with a photo of herself in a graduation gown and a sash that resembles a Philippine flag.
"The day I landed back in the US from competing in Miss Universe Philippines, I was accepted into the nursing program," she said. "And from there I always said it was never too late to start and achieve a new goal or dream."
Katrina also acknowledged those who helped her along the way, including her fiancé, her family, classmates, and professors. She also revealed that she will be preparing for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).
"Thanks for all your sweet messages and motivation the last 2 years. And to those who [have] also been inspired by my journey, you got this! Don’t give up! What’s next mga bes?!"
The 30-year-old host and television personality joined Binibining Pilipinas in 2012 and earned the Tourism title. She took a hiatus and returned in 2018, conquering Miss Supranational USA and earning the prestigious title. She represented USA in the international pageant, ultimately securing the 1st Runner-Up position.
In 2021, she represented Bohol in Miss Universe Philippines wherein she was named Miss Universe Philippines Tourism.
After the pageant, Katrina admitted that she initially felt hurt when she failed to win the coveted crown, saying it "is part of the process."
"Just like many of you, I am also hurt, but the hurt I feel right now is part of the process and my joy of knowing I left my heart out on that stage and gave my absolute best, defeats that pain.," she wrote back in October of 2021. "In time I’ll be fully healed, back and stronger."
