Madonna thanks friend who 'saved my life' during near-death experience

Madonna opened up about a recent health scare that sent her into a two-day induced coma. She also thanked a friend who helped her "survive the medical emergency."

During the Brooklyn stop of her "Celebration World Tour" last Dec. 17, Madonna gave a heartfelt shoutout to the “one very important woman” who rushed her to the hospital when she had a near-death experience and helped her survive the medical emergency.

“There are some very important people in the room tonight that were with me at the hospital. There’s one very important woman who dragged me to the hospital,” told the singer while on stage. “I don’t remember; I passed out on my bathroom floor and woke up in the ICU...  I was in an induced coma for 48 hours."

She said her Kabbalah teacher Shavawn, who was by her side at the hospital, "saved my life.”

”The only voice I heard was his,” she said. “I heard him say, ‘Squeeze my hand,'” Madonna told the crowd, according to a fan-captured video shared on X.

The 65-year-old Grammy winner shared the first moments of her coma experience as she recalled seeing her six children gathered in a room.

“I had to almost die to get all my kids in one room,” she joked.

Madonna noted, “And I was thinking, ‘What if I left my children?’ That would destroy me to leave my children at this moment in their lives. I wasn’t thinking about me. I was thinking about them, and I was thinking about my mother and how scared she must have been to know that she was going to leave us all behind.”

“I don’t take any of this s— for granted,” she ended.

In June, the singer contracted a "serious bacterial infection" that forced her to delay all commitments, including her highly anticipated tour.

"Thank you for your positive energy, Prayers and words of healing and encouragement. I have felt your love. I'm on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life," she wrote on Instagram in July.

"My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children. My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour. I also didn't want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone."

Madonna's tour was rescheduled to Dec. 16 in Brooklyn and will end on April 24 in Mexico City.
