Andi Eigenmann praises son Koa for learning to surf at 3: 'Finally in the water catching some waves on his own'

Andi Eigenmann and Philmar Alipayo are proud parents to their youngest child Koa for learning how to surf at just three years old.

In an Instagram post, Philmar posted a video showing Koa having a blast as he rode the waves of Siargao on his surfboard without any help from a grown-up for a considerable time.

Andi reposted the reel on her Instagram stories and gushed about her son's achievement.

"So proud of our lil' guy! Finally in the water catching some waves on his own now too. Long ones at that! Keep it up Koaboy and thanks so much to papa Philmar," Andi wrote.

In a separate story, Andi also gushed about her daughter Lilo as she is now starting to swim without wearing any inflatables to help her float.

"Koa's finally in the line-up while Lilo is now pumpin'. Goin' for the bigger ones without her floaties on now too," Andi wrote.

"Braving the wipe-outs more and more by the day. Raising brave kids is nerve-wracking, but it is just so epic wathcing them try and succeed!" she added.

Like her brother, Lilo had also been taught how to surf by Philmar when she was only three years old, as seen from a picture posted by Andi on her Instagram back in July last year.

Of course, Andi herself is also an skillful surfer, but she previously opened up about how she was initially discouraged from learning the sport because of her age and her responsibilities as a mother.

"Before I got myself really into surfing, I had a mindset that I was too old for it. Especially since being a mom of three, I thought it didn't feel right to only be learning something new for the first time. It probably would've been impossible to get good this late anyway," Andi shared.

"Luckily I am now in an environment where I don't need to fear being judged, no need to worry about being good enough for others or fitting their standard of what they believe is right and pleasing to them," she continued.

Andi moved to Siargao in 2017 and has since been sharing her island life with Philmar and Lilo, Koa, and her eldest daughter Ellie. She eventually turned her love for the sport into a business venture as she opened a surf shop and school on the island with her partner.
