Desirae Krawczyk's Filipina mom forgot her match to stan Alex Eala instead

American tennis player Desirae Krawczyk shared how her Filipino mom got so excited watching Alex Eala that she nearly forgot her daughter’s own match.

In the latest episode of The Player's Box Podcast, Krawczyk recalled a moment when her mom seemed to forget her match entirely while cheering for the Pinay tennis ace.

"My mom's Filipino. So she's crazy about Alex. And she's like, I'm going to come watch her when she plays on Thursday. And I was like, 'Mom, I'm going to be playing on Thursday.' She's like, 'Oh, oh, yes, you too. Yes, yes. I'm going to watch you too.' And I was like, 'What? Mom, what are you doing?'" she recalled with a laugh.

"So it's funny, but it's great to have everyone out here and just have family and friends out here," she added.

Currently ranked No. 33, Krawczyk also shared that her mom wanted to give pancit and lumpia to Eala during the U.S. Open.

"Yeah. My mom went to U.S. Open last year and Alex was obviously huge then, and she was like, 'Oh, my gosh, I want to see Alex. Maybe I'll get a picture with her. But I also want a picture with Jenny. I want a picture with everyone.' And I was like, 'OK, mom, let's take it one at a time.' But then obviously, when she knew Alex was playing at India Wells, she's like, I'm going to make her pancit, which is a famous noodle dish in the Philippines, and then lumpia, which is like these egg rolls," she shared.

The American tennis player also shared that information with Eala, to which she responded, "Oh my gosh, I would love that."

"If I tell my mom that, my mom will probably make like three big bowls of noodles. So I don't know if I should give it to Alex, but yeah, they just go balls to the wall with that stuff," she said. "It's fun to have them around."

Krawczyk is a four-time mixed-doubles grand slam champion. She most recently competed at the WTA 1000 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, where she and Lyudmyla Kichenok won their first‑round doubles match but were eliminated in the second round by the fifth‑seeded team of Anna Danilina and Aleksandra Krunić, 4–6, 1–6.

Alex Eala bows out of the BNP Paribas Open

Eala lost to world No 14 Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic in the Round of 16 on Wednesday, with 2-6, 0-6 scores.

The Pinay tennis ace, who made her debut in the tournament, advanced to the round of 16 after defeating Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska, having received a first-round bye, as well as the U.S. No. 4 seed Coco Gauff, who retired in the second set of their third-round match.

She now heads back to the Miami Open, which will run from March 17 to 29.
