Run free, Sputnik.

Bela Padilla mourned the death of her pet cat Sputnik in a recent Instagram post as she reminisced about the memories they shared in the past 14 years.

"We walked through life together for the last 14 years, in the best way we both knew how. He was the kindest, most patient, most affectionate little cat. He was a baby, a teen, a full-grown cat, and eventually an old and wise companion that watched over me through the best and worst times of my life," she wrote.

“I was under no impression that Sputnik would live forever. But I also wished he was going to be here one day when I grew into who I was meant to become in life. But he saw me try my best, always, and I think he was proud," she added.

Bela recalled how "hopeless" and "ashamed" she was "of not being able to make his last day free of pain."

"I saw him one last time yesterday. His bones were on my fingertips and he tried to fight as hard as he could. A few minutes before they were gonna close the clinic, he tried to get up one last time and leave with me," the actress detailed.

Bela thanked her fur baby for everything, for helping her grow up and learn to be happy even in just a short amount of time. "Thank you for waiting for me, Sputnik. Yesterday to say goodbye. And every day for the last 14 years. To grow up, to learn, to be happy, and to come home and give you cuddles every day."

Her friends and supporters sent their love to the actress in the comment section of her post.

"I wasn’t ready for this as a cat parent, this also broke my heart. Run free, Sputnik. We love you! Hugs, Bela!" local personality Kerwin King wrote in the same thread.

"Hugs momsy," actress Kim Chiu also commented, adding three heart emojis.
