Mark Bautista revealed that some of his friends in the entertainment industry have become distant since he got real about his sexuality.

In a recent interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, the actor opened up about how life has been for him since he came out as bisexual in his autobiography Beyond The Mark in February 2018.

While he’s grateful for all the people who have continued to stand by his side, he said that there are some showbiz friends who think that what he did was only for publicity and started getting aloof from him. “Mayroon akong kaunting friends na parang naging distant. Mayroon naman sa showbiz na naging distant dahil feeling nila, I was just doing it for publicity. Medyo doon ko nakilala.”

There have also been some changes in his career since.

“In terms sa music, I feel like nagkakaroon ako ng shows naman. It’s the same, parang walang nagbago. But I think dahil uma-acting ako, nagkaroon na ng limitation ‘yung binibigay na offers or mas stereotyped ‘yung role na puwedeng ibigay sa akin,” he said.

Mark revealed he’s still interested in taking on roles similar to the ones he has played in the past. “Gusto ko pa ring gawin na like normal na role or ‘yung straight na role. After noong nag-book ako, marami ring nag-offer sa akin na movies but puro BL (boys' love). Pero ang Viva, hindi sila nag-agree kasi depende rin sa content, sa material,” he explained.

Despite these changes in his life, however, he has no regrets about coming out as part of the LGBTQ+ community. “Ang hirap mag-apologize sa isang bagay na totoo, like my truth. Wala akong regret,” he said.
