Ice Seguerra bares struggles with being a trans man after Father's Day message from stepdaughter

Ice Seguerra opened up about getting "a lot of hate" as a trans man, just a day after his stepdaughter Amara penned a heartfelt Father's Day message for him.

In a lengthy Instagram post sharing his "late-night thoughts," Seguerra posted a series of pictures of him surrounded by his nearest and dearest. He then bared that he is saddened by how society looks down on transgender people.

"It's sad to think that we are still judged not by our ability to love but by what’s between our legs. Society can quickly diminish a beautiful relationship simply because we are different," he wrote.

The singer-songwriter said he knew that he would "get a lot of hate" after coming out as a trans man.

"I’ve dealt with these people ever since I can remember. Bigotry and homophobic slurs are part of my daily life. One can never get used to it, but if that’s the price I have to pay to live my truth, then so be it. But when my family is dragged into this, it is painful," he shared.

"This is the life of a person and families in the LGBTQIA+ community. We must constantly prove ourselves and go above and beyond to be 'worthy' of society’s acceptance. Never mind if we’re good people, they will reduce us to nothing to prove they are 'right' about who they think we are," he continued.

Seguerra attributed this to how "people hate what they don’t understand," making it easy for them to just spread hate.

Despite being bombarded with resentment from the public, he underscored: "We’re not backing down, and we will fight till we get our place in the sun."

"To my wife, daughter, mama, brother, friends, and allies, thank you for loving me enough to withstand all the hurtful things they say about us. Thank you for holding the fort and being my sanctuary when it becomes too much. You make me believe that love will always win," he ended.

His inspiring message comes after Amara, daughter of his wife Liza Diño, took the time to write an affectionate message to him for Father's Day, which he shared on Instagram.

"Happy Father’s Day to my papa," she began. "I hate to think some people think you’re just my stepdad. You have raised me and molded me into the great girl I am today. Thank you for always raising my standards in men (and relationships in general) and teaching me to never settle."

"Watching you and mama love each other despite every challenge in life is so inspiring. Thank you for being the one for my mom. Despite her everything, despite mine, you are our peacemaker. I love u and [your] 10 hours naps every day, dad. Thank you for being with me through everything. I’m so proud to be your daughter," she ended.

Following Seguerra's post about his struggles, many of his followers sent him encouraging words of support and wished him strength amid the hardships.

"I always admire how transparent you are, Ice. I commend you and Liza of how your love is louder than any other noise in the world," one user commented.

Another one wrote: "’ll always love and support you and Liza because you simply are good people who have always been good friends to me too. You’re both kind, caring, generous, and real. That’s all that I see and all that matters."

Seguerra came out as a trans man in 2014 and married model and actress Liza Diño in California in December of the same year.
