Lotlot de Leon shares last text she received from Nora Aunor
Lotlot de Leon revealed the last conversation she had with her mother Nora Aunor, who died on April 16 at 71 years old.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, the actress turned emotional as she shared the text she got from Aunor before her passing and reflected on how she wants the late superstar to be remembered.
“Yung huling usapan kasi namin ni Mommy, nag-text siya na ‘wag mag-alala sa kanya," she said. "Tapos very proud siya sa mga bata, alagaan lang ang sarili... na mahal na mahal niya kami."
Lotlot recalled how her mom started from humble beginnings and served as an inspiration to many.
"Kaya siguro marami ang nagmamahal sa kanya kasi naging inspirasyon siya ng karamihan—na pwede pala 'yun, na ang isang munting babae na taga-Bicol na nagbebenta lang ng tubig noong araw ay maaaring maging superstar at mahalin ng lahat," she said.
"I think my mom served as an inspiration," she continued. "She gave hope to a lot of people. She was very generous to everyone around her. So 'yung sining niya, 'yung kagalingan niya sa craft niya, sana po ay huwag nilang kalimutan at laging ipagdasal ang aking ina."
She also expressed her gratitude to everyone who sent love to the Himala star.
"Nagpapasalamat ako sa dami ng taong nagpapaabot ng pagmamahal kay Mommy. Lagi naman niyang sinasabi, mahal na mahal niya ang mga fans niya, kasi kung ‘di dahil sa kanila, walang Nora Aunor. Kaya maraming, maraming salamat po sa kanilang lahat," said Lotlot.
Nora's son Ian de Leon previously revealed his last messages from Aunor, which he said included a prayer for her children.
"Panginoon, kahit saan man mapunta ang aking mga anak, pakiusap, hawakan Mo sila, protektahan Mo sila sa lahat ng panganib, at palaging ihatid silang ligtas pauwi," the veteran actress wrote to Ian. To this, the actor responded, “I love you, Ma.”
Nora also told Ian and the rest of the family, “Pasensiya na at wala si Mommy diyan 'pag kailangan niyo ako. Gabayan nawa kayo lagi. Kamusta na ang mga bata? Kiss at hug mo na lang sila, please.”
Ian announced Nora's passing in a Facebook post on the night of April 16.
The National Artist was given a necrological tribute at the Metropolitan Theater and a state funeral at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on April 22.
