Bea Alonzo set to star in international film ‘1521: The Battle of Mactan’
From starring in kilig flicks such as One More Chance and The Love Affair to the 2019 hair-raising thriller Eerie, Bea Alonzo is taking her acting prowess to the next level once again by taking part in a new historical movie.
Titled 1521: The Battle of Mactan, Bea's upcoming project is being filmed in Palawan and spearheaded by American director-actor Michael Copon alongside producer Francis Lara Ho.
In the movie's presscon held on August 4, Ho said the film aims to impact people with the goodness and greatness of the Filipinos.
"Our team's desire is to make a great movie that will make the Filipino proud, that will make God please, and that will make our family proud and will impact people with goodness and greatness of the Filipino people," the producer said.
"But this is not only about Filipinos," he continued. "We have Magellan and other characters... This is a global story."
Meanwhile, Copon said in a July interview with Palawan News that spirituality and love are the design archetypes of the film's two main characters.
Bea is set to play the role of Diwata. She will be joined by American actor and Power Rangers star Hector David Jr. as Enrique and Copon as Lapu-Lapu. Local broadcaster DYPR Palawan shared a video of Alonzo and Enrique at Thursday's presscon.
