LIST: 9 K-dramas worth watching this September 2022

There’s something so satisfying about a good old K-drama binge after a stressful day. After all, it is a time when you can get in touch with your sentimental, romantic, and even creepy side. 

We're already mid-way through the first of the “Ber” months, so be sure to keep yourself updated with the latest offerings that K-drama land has to offer. Check out these Korean series that are worth your time, laughs, and fangirl squeals. 

Little Women

Premiere date: September 3 on tvN and Netflix
Cast: Kim Goeun, Nam Jihyun, Park Jihu, Wi Hajun

Three sisters, three separate lives, and three uncertain fates due to their social status. Loosely based on the classic 1868 novel by Louisa Mae Alcott, the family drama revolves around Oh In-ju (Kim Goeun), Oh In-kyung (Nam Jihyun), and Oh In-hye (Park Jihu) as they go through the trials and travails of being involved in a case that covers the richest family of South Korea.

Once Upon A Small Town

Premiere date: September 5 on KakaoTV and Netflix
Cast: Choo Youngwoo, Joy, Baek Sungchul, Ha Yulri

Originally offered to Jang Geunseuk and Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung, this rom-com is an adaptation of the webtoon Accidental Country Diary

The K-drama tells the story of Han Jiyul (Choo Youngwoo), a veterinarian in Seoul, who returns to Huidong Village after receiving an urgent call from his grandfather. The initial fear turns into relief when it was discovered that the old man went on a tour around Europe and he needs someone to take care of his animal clinic. He soon crosses paths with Ahn Jayoung (Joy) who helps him adjust to his daily life in the village.

Narco-Saints

Premiere date: September 9 on Netflix
Cast: Ha Jungwoo, Hwang Jungmin, Park Haesoo, Jo Woojin

For curious fans, the screenplay is based on the Korean drug lord Jo Bonghaeng who operated a massive drug-smuggling ring in Suriname. 

Narco-Saints, however, tells the story of Kang Ingu (Ha Jungwoo) who gets involved in a National Intelligence Service secret operation after being framed by drug king Jeon Yohwan (Hwang Jungmin). Unbeknownst to outsiders, Yohwan is a drug lord who “controls Suriname” by running one of the country’s biggest drug trafficking organizations.

Mental Coach Jegal

Premiere date: September 12 on tvN and Viu
Cast: Jung Woo, Lee Yoomi, Kwon Yool, Park Seyoung 

Being an athlete is a test of your physical and mental endurance—and this is where Jegal Gil (Jung Woo) comes in. In a journey towards maturity, Jegal Gil was demoted to a mental coach of a national team after he was banned from the taekwondo team. He meets award-winning speed skater Cha Gaeul (Lee Yoomi) who’s currently going through a mental slump. 

Blind

Premiere date: September 16 on tvN 
Cast: Ok Taecyeon, Ha Seokjin, Jung Eunji, Park Jibin 

Blind tells the story of Ryu Sungjoon (Ok Taecyeon), Ryu Sunghoon (Ha Seokjin), and Jo Eunki (Jung Eunji) as they try to find the truth behind the deaths of a serial murder case.

Brothers Sungjoon and Sunghoon both work in the legal industry and are both determined in their quest for their justice. They meet Eunki, a social worker with a heart for people who wants to be a reliable guardian to children at all times. 

Love in Contract

Premiere date: September 21 on tvN
Cast: Park Minyoung, Go Kyungpyo, Kim Jaeyoung 

We’ve all heard of rom-coms that talk about contract marriages, but Love in Contract takes a 180-degree turn by telling the story of Choi Sangeun (Park Minyoung) who works in the contract marriage industry. Sangeun helps her clients enjoy their single life by transforming herself to satisfy them at every turn.

This time, Sangeun finds herself in a love triangle between Jung Jiho (Go Kyungpyo) whom she’s in contract with every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and Kang Haejin (Kim Jaeyoung) every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

May It Please the Court

Premiere date: September 21 on Disney+
Cast: Jung Ryeowon, Lee Kyuhyung, Jung Jinyoung 

The legal drama tells the story of No Chakhee (Jung Ryeowon) is determined to return as an ace attorney after being suspended for a year due to a case gone wrong. Working as a public defender, she usually gets into spats with her optimistic co-worker Jwa Shibaek (Lee Kyuhyung) who’s living with a mysterious secret. The pair soon find themselves involved in a serial murder case as they put their minds to the test.

Golden Spoon

Premiere date: September 23 on MBC and Disney+
Cast: Yook Sungjae, Lee Jongwon, Jung Chaeyeon, Yeonwoo

If you’re given the opportunity to be wealthy in a snap? Would you take it?

Golden Spoon revolves around high school student Lee Seungcheon (Yook Sungjae) who hates being poor. Desperate to escape from his social status, he meets an old woman who sells him a mysterious golden spoon that can change his life in just three meals. He immediately takes on the offer and eats at the house of his friend Hwang Taeyong (Lee Jongwon). He suddenly finds himself as the chaebol son of Taeyong’s parents.

One Dollar Lawyer

Premiere date: September 23 on SBS
Cast: Namgoong Min, Kim Jieun, Choi Daehoon, Lee Deokhwa

The third legal drama on the list, One Dollar Lawyer is the tale of Cheon Jihun (Namgoong Min) with a unique sense of style. Jihun is known among his colleagues for his stylish perm and for offering services worth ₩1,000 (P40). Even so, he’s one of the most skilled in the industry that goes head-to-head with the most expensive lawyers. His life suddenly changes when he meets Baek Mari (Kim Jieun), a prosecutor’s assistant with sharp abilities and a ton of self-confidence.
