Maymay Entrata gets featured in Grammy Awards' series: 'One of my most unforgettable memories'

Maymay Entrata was featured in an original series of the Recording Academy, which hands the Grammy Awards, considered the highest accolade in the global music industry.

The singer-actress is part of It Goes to 11, which interviews artists about their musical instruments or accessories. She talked about how an in-ear accessory helped improve her singing.

Entrata recalled learning how to sing three years ago when she still had flats or sharps. "Basically, I'm still out of tune whenever I sing live," she said. This prompted her to observe other singers and later realized they had "something in their ear."

Entrata sought guidance from singer Gary Valenciano, whom she described as "one of the most iconic music artists in the Philippines."

She asked Valenciano what was in his ear, and he informed her that the accessory lets singers hear themselves while performing, allowing them to "hit that note right away."

"I was like, 'Boom! I think that's the missing part,'" she said. "I will become a great singer once I have that."

Still, Entrata said no magic or equipment will make anyone skip learning. “It will always take hard work, perseverance, and patience for you to have it, for you to learn it," she said.

In an Instagram post on Oct. 24, Entrata shared behind-the-scenes photos of the interview.

"Waaaaaaaaaah! My heart bai! I still couldn’t believe we made it to GRAMMY studio po," she said.

She thanked the Recording Academy for having her, and called the experience "definitely one of my most unforgettable memories."

Entrata rose to fame after winning the reality television show Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky 7 in 2017. She's known for the songs AMAKABOGERA, Kakayanin Kaya, and Puede Ba. She appeared in the movies Da One That Ghost Away and Hello, Love, Goodbye, as well as in television shows La Luna Sangre, Maalaala Mo Kaya and Wansapanataym.

The local star won a FAMAS Award, an Awit Award, two PMPC Star Awards for Music, and a Box Office Entertainment Award.

Grammy has also featured other Filipino artists in its other series.P-pop sensation SB19's Josh Cullen performed his Yoko Na in the Global Spin Live, while his groupmate Ken, who goes by Felip for his solo venture, performed Bulan.
