By Yoniel Acebuche Published Jul 02, 2024 3:40 pm

BTS member Jin will reportedly participate in the much-anticipated 2024 Paris Olympics as a torchbearer.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the eldest member of the K-pop powerhouse "will travel to France in the near future to take part in the torch relay."

Further details, such as the exact location and schedule of his participation, have yet to be disclosed.

Moreover, the cause of Jin's involvement in the sports event has not yet been revealed; however, as per Yonhap, it "likely stems from BTS' global popularity and the group's decadelong message of love yourself."

The Paris Olympics will run from July 26 to Aug. 11.

'Please wait a little longer'

Meanwhile, Jin recently expressed his excitement to his fans on the K-pop fan community platform Weverse, saying he is currently "working on recording music and filming a variety show" while "trying to focus on his main job while showing his face as much as possible."

"The results will be out in a few months, so please wait a little longer," he wrote.

The 31-year-old K-pop star was discharged from his South Korean military service on Wednesday, Jun. 12.

He is the first member of the band to complete the mandatory duty, which allows him to resume musical activities fully.

The day after his discharge, he participated in his group's anniversary celebration, 2024 BTS FESTA, by greeting fans in person at Seoul's Jamsil Arena on Jun. 13. This fulfilled the K-pop star's wish to spend meaningful time with the ARMY in person on BTS's debut day

During the event, fans got the chance to be involved in a "light hug" or a handshake with Jin upon winning a raffle. Likewise, the second session is a "Message from Jin" to showcase "various performances that the ARMY wishes to see."

Jin—whose full name is Kim Seok-jin—started his mandatory South Korean military duty on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022. He is the band's first member to enlist since their hiatus announcement.

In 2023, the group's oldest member gave his fans an exciting update about his life in the army. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal earlier than scheduled, allowing him to have several perks, such as wearing a special emblem on uniforms, getting promoted earlier than his peers, and being allowed to take extra leaves of four to five days.
