For Venice Bektas, showing more skin does not mean having less self-respect
Ruffa Gutierrez's daughter Venice Bektas opposed the idea that wearing revealing clothes means having less self-respect.
The 19-year-old's fondness for fashion and exploring different styles is evident in her Instagram photos.
In an interview with entertainment portal PEP.ph, Venice talked about how women are perceived for wanting to wear certain clothes. She began by saying that with the Philippines' tropical weather, some people would want to "show off more skin."
“I feel like because people want to show off more skin [and] wear more clothes for the warm weather, people think that you have less self-respect, which I don't agree with at all," she said.
“I think that's a bias against women that people should no longer perpetuate,” Venice added.
The 19-year-old also talked about how she was only allowed by Ruffa to use social media when she was 13.
“Because my mom was very strict, and I'm honestly glad she was very strict, so with social media, I was only allowed to have social media once I turned 13,” she said.
“So, I feel like once I was 13, I kind of had a gist of what to do. I had common sense na medyo. And I think it benefited me positively. Yes, so, I think it's been good."
Venice is Ruffa Gutierrez's youngest daughter with ex-husband Yilmaz Bektas.
