Lee Junho leaves JYP Entertainment after 17 years
South Korean star Lee Junho is parting ways with JYP Entertainment, which served as his agency for 17 years.
In a statement obtained by K-entertainment website Soompi, his management confirmed that his exclusive contract with them will end on April 15, noting that it was a mutual decision between them.
"We sincerely thank Lee Junho for walking alongside the company for the past 17 years, contributing to its growth and journey," it said. "Above all, we are deeply grateful to fans who have shown immense love and support in response to Lee Junho's hard work and dedication."
JYP Entertainment recalled the "brightest seasons" of Junho's career with the agency since he debuted as a member of the group 2PM in 2008.
"Lee Junho has dedicated himself wholeheartedly to both his singing and acting careers, achieving remarkable success in each field," his agency said.
"Based on a strong foundation of mutual trust, we have renewed our contract with him multiple times over the years, spending the brightest seasons of his career together," it continued.
Junho, for his part, expressed his gratitude for JYP Entertainment.
"I sincerely thank you for your unwavering support over the past 17 years. I will cherish the bond we have built and the encouragement you have given me over this long time as I move forward."
Junho became known following his win at a Korean talent contest, Superstar Survival, in 2006. Two years later, he became part of another competition called Hot Blood Men, which gave rise to the K-pop boy band 2PM. It ended up becoming one of the biggest names of K-pop's second generation.
Aside from being a singer, Junho is also famous for his acting talent. He starred in hit K-drama series such as King the Land, The Red Sleeve, and Confession, to name a few. He is set to appear as a superhero in the upcoming Netflix series Cashero alongside Kim Hye Joon (A Shop for Killers), Kim Byung Chul (Sky Castle), and Kim Hyang (Along With the Gods).
Junho visited the country last November 2023 for his first fan meeting tour, JUNHO THE MOMENT 2023, held at SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
