Ogie Diaz speaks out after KathNiel confirmed breakup: ‘Finally, na-vindicate ako’
Ogie Diaz said he's happy to have been "vindicated" following Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla's breakup confirmation, but admitted he's also sad about how the former couple ended up.
In a vlog posted on his YouTube page Ogie Diaz Showbiz Update, the talent manager said that he has mixed emotions over the news.
"Sa totoo lang, mixed ang emosyon ko eh," he began. "Natutuwa ako dahil, finally na-vindicate ako pagkatapos akong isumpa, i-bash ng katakot-takot ng ibang KathNiels. 'Di ko naman nilalahat, 'yung iba lang naman na hindi maiintindihan 'yung aming trabaho."
"Siyempre nung nabasa ko 'yun, andaming nagsend, tumatawag, nagmemessage na 'Vindicated ka na.' Sa totoo lang, ayaw ko namang magpaka-ipokrita—yes, happy ako dahil vindicated kami, pero at the same time, nandoon rin 'yung lungkot. Parang, sandali, tinanong ko pa nga 'yung sarili ko, 'Kasalanan ko ba't nagkaganito yung relasyon nila?' Hindi, binalita lang naman namin 'yun eh," he said.
KathNiel confirmed last Thursday, Nov. 30 that they have ended their 11-year relationship, saying that they've "been drifting apart for a while now" and that they "ultimately had to accept that we can't go back to where we used to be."
It came after weeks of breakup rumors, which started when Ogie brought it up in his vlog but clarified there was no confirmation regarding it. He became the subject of bashing among social media users who, at the time, claimed he peddles "fake news."
"Sa totoo lang, noon pa naman namin alam na break na nga 'yung dalawa, pero sabi ko nga, 'Sino naman kami para kami ang manguna o pangunahan namin ang KathNiel na dapat sa kanila nanggagaling?' Kaya malinaw 'yun na sinasabi ko ay hindi pa ito confirmed, ha, unless aminin ng dalawa na sila ay break na," he said.
Ogie stressed that just like their supporters, he also wanted Kathryn and Daniel's romance to last forever. He expressed his hope that the two just need to give each other some space and get back together in the future.
“Hindi ko ipinagbubunyi kung kumpirmadong sila’y wala na. Hindi po. Buksan niyo man ang puso namin, gusto namin na 'yung dalawa ay maging ending na at maging forever,” he emphasized. "Minsan 'yung mga ganyan, pahinga 'yan eh. Kumbaga, nagbibigay ka muna ng space."
KathNiel debuted as a love team in 2011 in the teleserye Growing Up and have since starred in other shows and movies. They confirmed their relationship in 2018.
