LOOK: Tom Daley spotted knitting a new project at the 2024 Paris Olympics
British Diver Tom Daley is making rounds again not just for his possible fifth Olympics win, but also with his iconic knitting moments in the stands during the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Olympic gold medalist was seen casually knitting again in the stands during the women’s synchronized 3-meter springboard final at the Aquatics Centre on Saturday, July 27.
“It wouldn't be an Olympics without a Tom Daley knitting-in-the-crowd cameo!” the Olympics wrote.
In the photo shared by the organization, Tom appeared focused on the event while holding his knitting needles with red, blue, and white yarns as part of his new project, a Paris Olympics sweater. He also shared a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes of the project on his Instagram page, @madewithlovebytomdaley.
Tom first went viral for his knitting hobby at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, where he was spotted in the stands focused on his knitting needles and purple yarn.
He learned about the hobby during the height of the pandemic, which he said served as his “meditation,” as per his previous interview with TODAY. He bagged his first gold at the Tokyo Games.
“The one thing that kept me sane throughout this whole process is my love for knitting and crochet and all things stitching," he said in his video while showing off his gold medal.
Tom is eyeing his fifth Olympic medal at this year’s Paris Games. He secured his spot alongside Noah Williams to represent Great Britain in the synchro diving competition.
He currently has four Olympic medals since becoming Britain’s youngest Olympian at age 14 in 2008 where he placed seventh.
He earned his first bronze medal during the 2012 London Olympics and the second one at the 2016 Rio Olympics with Daniel Goodfellow.
His third bronze was during the 10m platform, alongside his first-ever gold in Tokyo with the 10m synchro with Matty Lee.
