Khloé Kardashian developed 'trust issues' after therapist allegedly leaked info to tabloids
Khloé Kardashian opened up about a difficult moment in her life when her former therapist leaked the socialite's private information to tabloids.
In an interview with women's magazine Bustle, Khloé shared how she developed trust issues after her unnamed therapist disclosed to tabloids some of her personal details when she was going through a divorce with basketball player Tristan Thompson.
"My weight loss journey started because I was getting a divorce. I remember I was going to therapy and the next thing I knew, something private I told my therapist was on a tabloid," she said.
While she did not specify what was leaked, Khloé knew that the tabloid's source was her therapist because "there’s no way this could have gotten out there."
"It was very jarring and sort of unbelievable, but there’s not a chance in the world that it came from anywhere else," she said.
"I stopped going to therapy and started going to the gym. I needed a release, but I did not trust anybody else anymore. And the place that I felt the safest was the gym," she added.
This then sparked her weight loss journey, which is something that helped her in terms of mental peace.
"As a byproduct, my body started changing. I loved the way I felt. I loved testing myself and challenging myself. And I’ve been doing it for 10-plus years now, and I love it," she highlighted.
She recalled how the process was a "constant struggle" for her because of criticisms from the public.
"I was fat-shamed every day when I was bigger, and then when I lost weight, people were like, 'How dare you, you are so insecure, you’re following society.' And I’m like, 'OK, you guys are so confusing!' I realized you’ll never make everyone happy. I have to do what’s best for me," she said.
When asked about her love life after separating from Tristan, Khloé emphasized that she is happily single and is not looking to put herself out there again for the time being.
"Dating has not been a focus for me, and I’ve been single for about three years and love it. I really, really do. But I’m not single and dating. I’m just single," the media personality shared.
"I have such power and strength in that. I’m not lonely. There would be a difference if I was single and lonely. I am single and thriving," she added.
Khloé went on to say that she is currently working on herself and getting to such a good place that she "doesn't want something to disrupt it."
The Kardashians star was previously married to basketball player Lamar Odom in 2009 before they finalized their divorce in 2016. She then began a relationship with Tristan and gave birth to their daughter, True. The ex-couple also has a son via surrogacy named Tatum.
The pair ultimately put an end to their on-and-off relationship in 2021 after multiple instances of infidelity on Tristan's part, including with Jordyn Woods and Maralee Nichols, with whom he fathered a baby boy.
